Does anyone know if NH releases more seats closer to the departure dates?

Yes, starting about 3 weeks prior to departure (sometimes a bit closer in), NH tend to up more seats in J — up to about 4.

You can see the pattern very clearly on NH's SYD-HND route.

Watching this route with interest, it'll be good to have a non-stop option plus more access to NA

Looking to fly to Japan next year and ANA have some good flight times ex Sydney, but would only fly ANA if I was getting VA points and SCs, so good that is happening soon.
