Hi anyone had any luck getting full refund of the annual fee when threatening to cancel the card.

Definitely cancelling in February if they don't waive the annual fee again. The only reason I have kept it this long is to pay my quarterly PAYG instalments, car rego, rates & the wife's speeding fines! Logged on to the new web site today and see that all transactions are now categorized ie ATO is Personal Tax, Council Rates are Government etc. Being the cynical person that I am I suspect that points on ATO etc may be a thing of the past as the T's&C's exclude government charges from eligible purchases. Just paid a $235 speeding fine so will be looking to see if it accrues points once it clears pending. I will post an update if no points are allocated.

I got my latest statement today. ATO is still working at 1 point/$ up to $2500.

If I remember I use my fee free WOW cc to pay $5000 of ATO each month as that shandies 2500 plus 1250 QF points into my account at 0.63 cents cost.
Aussieboozer if you move to Perth radar detectors are still legal so I have no fines and all 12 points intact.

They are still happy to waive the annual fee on closing the card. I closed anyway, even though, down the track, it may become the standard earn rate.

Yeah, they waived the annual fee for me yesterday as well, so I agreed to keep the card. It's good for the first $2,500 spend per statement and so it works for me as a replacement for my CitiBusiness card that I'm ditching post-March 18. Most of my spend is on an Amex, but I need a Visa/MC as a backup.

any recent fee waives? my annual fee is coming up so going to cancel this card.... I could be tempted if they waive the fee but then again I wouldn't mind reducing my limits as well.

Why would you want to keep this card?

There are so many better offerings.

When I go to Woolworths I remain totally surprised at how few folks use gift cards at check outs.

I got a waive offered mid Feb, but that was it. They weren't interested in offsetting or waiving their monthly 'statement' fee which despite its small size annoyed me to no end.

Instead I got the full blurb of 2 minutes telling me how fantastic this card was with all the added benefits. I countered with, yeah but its full earn capped at $2500, costs a lot per year (I mean really, this card should be free given its place in the market and its actual real world 'benefits'), costs / month just to get my statement.

I was nice about it though, my response was in the form of constructive feedback rather than a complaint. The offer of a fee waive was probably ok, but I'm not the right fit for this card now given its new ownership. $2500 a month ceiling was always going to hurt me and it did.

I've been trying to cancel for years and every year a fee waiver. This year I may really use the card given reduction in Citibank redemption rates.

Called on Saturday and got told the solutions team was too busy and they would call me back in 1-2 days. Called up again tonight and got through quickly and the guy was quite helpful. I explained wanting to cancel because of the higher annual fee and points reduction after $2500. He immediately offered to waive the annual fee and I was able to lower my credit limit a bit as well so I will keep it for now as a backup.

I cancelled last week and wasn't given an annual fee waiver. They didn't try hard to keep me.

IMnsHO it's a lottery ; in my case I really didn't care and I guess it showed.
I will do zactly the same next year with the same attitude.. in fact caring less as the points become steadily more useless.

I just messaged the bank (Qantas credit union, now QUDOS) through the internal messaging system. Requested a waiver of my annual fee with the line that I was looking to consolidate my banking with one bank and was wondering if they'd offer me a sweetner to come with them.

I got a reply saying that unfortunately management wasn't able to approve this. Now to withdraw all my money from their savings account.

My question now is should I call with the intention to cancel and suggest they should offer me a year free to stay? If that fails, does anyone have a suggestion of a visa with a $1 = 1 QFF point with a signing bonus? I already have the jetstar platinum card.

Not quite the correct thread (Woolworths CC), but I would be keeping the Qantas credit union card beyond all others! Even if the annual fee goes up. It will probably be one of the last to be 'enhanced'.

I would agree with this. The Jetstar, Woolworths & Macquarie Cards have all had substantial haircuts. The Qantas Credit Union (now QUDOS) credit card will probably be the last one in the firing line as it has several thousand members who all actually work for Qantas.
