I received an email from Velocity Frequent Flyer today about their current 15% bonus points promotion on transferring flybuys points to Velocity. In the email, it says that they've removed the annual limit on flybuys points transfers. (This was 138,000 flybuys points per calendar year.)

If I scroll down to the fine print at the bottom of the email, it says:

From 1 November 2020, there is no annual limit of Flybuys points that can be transferred to Velocity.

From this wording, it sounds like the change is permanent. There is no mention in the email of this only applying during the current promotion period, or any end date. But I also haven't seen any announcement from Flybuys, and the Flybuys website still references the annual transfer limit.

Does anyone know whether this is a permanent change?

The email I received from flybuys says the same thing. The references I see on the flybuys site suggest the limit is gone.

A transfer limit of 138,000 points is still referenced here: flybuys | Velocity linking

You can transfer your flybuys points in multiples of 2,000 for 870 Velocity Points. That’s up to 138,000 flybuys points per calendar year per household (equivalent to 60,030 Velocity Points).

You will be able to link one member of your flybuys household to a nominated Velocity membership and this linked person will be the recipient of the flybuys points transfer.

The cap did me a favour. As soon as I reached it, I swapped to QF and Woolies! I’m not moving back until the VA situation and in particular, overseas airline partners becomes clearer.

For the time being I’d say it’s much safer to keep the points stockpiled with flybuys. Once international travel restrictions are eased and we know what partnerships will resume or be created only then would I consider transferring them across. Good to know that the limit has been removed.
