Another A330 Int config flying domestically

Yes, but other paperwork does.....

That goes without saying, unfortunately (or fortunately) such information is not publicly available, and the questions remains unanswered AFAIK. From a frequent passenger perspective I hate the ZX series aircraft, I would much rather seem than go than any of the non RR 763's.

I also note their original registrations are still on hold and the registered company is a noted forex dealer, to me this indicates they are being leased.

I too was of the impression that the ex-BA birds are now owned by Qantas (or a holding company controlled by Qantas).

I do not expect to see 744s used domestically though. It is much more cost efficient to use a 333 for that work, even if it does have less seats. They have plenty of 330s now, with more in the system, so the 744s will just be retired as 380s show up.
Unfortunately I agree with you on that one JB. Considering that at the moment any 747 into Perth would be heading straight back east, it doesn't make sense.

Although the A330's and 767's are great to watch, the skies of Perth are a tad boring without the 747 visiting it on a regular basis:cool:

I still expect to see 744s domestically regardless of their cost efficiency simply because they are more readily available and surplus to requirements when more A388s come online. I disagree there are plenty of A330s now given the ageing fleet of 767s needs to be be addressed, the last two weeks have seen a lot of issues especially with the 338's that may force QF's hand.

I note that an ER operated 577/566 SYD-PER return on Friday, there must have been some very happy pax on those flights with the seats they got .

I am pretty sure that an A330 was supposed to operate this - so I think it is a stretch to suggest that the OEH operated this sector due to issues with the 767 fleet. Unless you are saying the A330 had replaced a 767 somewhere?

The ER replaced an A330, I am not saying it had anything to do with the 767 fleet in particular as a single occurrence which is why its not part of the same paragraph as a notation only.

As I mentioned in another post, its well known that aircraft get to a point where their reliability declines dramatically, its my guess (and thats all it is at this stage based on past experience) that the 767 fleet are closer to that point than the 747, this seems to be reinforced by the issues experienced with the 338s in the last few weeks going tech in large numbers. Given the 338s have a lot higher cycles than the QF versions, it may be prudent for QF to move the A330s onto these flights and put 747s on the longer A330 routes where the slow turns are not so much of an issue.

Keep in mind that come Novermber, the SYD-MNL service changes from a 767 service to an A330 service. As it is not a daily service, I am not sure what the net effect is, but it does use up some of the freed up A330 time, and frees up some 767 time, which presumably will end up on domestic duties.

I think, if anything, it will force their hands on the remaining international 767 services.
