Oneworld awards are different being distance based ("Trip"s don't come into it). For classic awards, a change of carrier to/from QF and CX generates a new trip.
In the early days of the current system, MEL-(QF)xSYD-(QF)-xSIN-(CX)-CMB was charged as a partner award with two "trip" - MEL-SYD-SIN and SIN-CMB.
