I was mucking around on TripIt last night and saw a link to a webapp called, "Arrived OK", run out of Russia.
What it does is sends messages out to Waste Of Time Book (FB), Twitter, SMS (triggered for a fee on par with Telstra to family or anybody you consider important) based on your phone's connection to a network after flying. No app installation is necessary.
I find it quite spooky that people can see when you are and aren't connected to a GSM/UTMS network, however, thought is might be a handy service when travelling OS to Europe later in the year.

I'm trialling it DRW-BNE tonight, and was curious if anybody else had any experiences, positive, negative, or otherwise, with it?

Whats wrong with the good ole fashioned "In (insert airport code here)" SMS message? It take 10 seconds to write (ideal when your sitting on the aircraft but not yet at the gate) and only goes to ppl who will directly care if you have arrived safely or not.

It's standard practice for me to send one of these to Mrs Harvyk, and I'll usually also send one to mum, because she likes getting such msgs from me... The rest of my FB friends probably don't care that I have arrived in a certain city.

Agree. For OS Travel I think it is a clever concept. For Domestic a bit of a waste of time and costly, but I am curious to see it in action!
