Just wondering if anyone was paid for Y/Y+, applied for a points upgrade to J that was given, but then found themselves upgraded into F (for whatever reason)?

Was once on a Paid Y and given an op up at check in only to be upgraded to F in the lounge by the First host LHR-MEL. Best part was I was a expedia.br fare of $1100.00 return. :D

I'm scared of the silence... Just curious if such occurrences are possible, it seems they might.

hahaha.

I think the reason for the op-up to F might be more important. Knowing the circumstances of my points upgrade to J followed by F op-up, it is unlikely to be repeated anything more than rarely.

I haven't.

My ex housemate however had his points upgrade from J to F declined only to get the magical beep at the gate. Nice way to save 45,000 points :D

A mate of mine flew back from HKG on Chistmas Eve a couple of years ago. He booked Y+, applied for and got a points upgrade to J and then got an Op-Up to F. Sadly for him, it was a 747 not a 380, but it was still F. Jammy bugger was NB, or possibly just PS, too.

I was HOng Kong to Syd, a paid J ticket, and the teenage children were booked in Y.
Seperate tickets but linked via phone.
points upgrade for the kids confirmed from Y to Y+
beep at boarding, put them in J, right behind me
very happy they were too.....they were excited enough about Y +

TQ

Not *truly* F but was upgraded from W to J using points and selected 3A on the A380 HKG-SYD when F was being sold as J. I suppose if all the stars aligned, there can be a situation where Y is op-upped to J at check-in and then you request an F seat. But this would require A380 being sold as 3 class, which would only happen on QF127/QF128 rotation at this stage.

I was op-upped once as NB from Y+ to J on a 744 SYD-NRT. Great thing was that points and SCs credited as J.

Happened to EK flights. Bought Y and upgrade to J with points. Upon boarding, pass got rejected and handed over to another agent. New boarding pass with F - thanked the agent and a happy flyer!

I've had a similar experience with EK, except I was in the lounge when I got called to the desk for the change.

Yes. 3 pax, 1 WP, 1 SG, 1 PS. Booked Y+ MEL-LHR Upgraded to J at T-3 days. Beep at gate upgrade to F. Upgraded to F for MEL-DXB. Back to J for DXB-LHR. No idea why.
