Anyone else noticing they are becoming more frequent and intrusive?

Yes I can see there are upgrade options but it hardly seems worthwhile especially given that this is one of the smallest frequent flyer forums on the internet.

What do you think?

What spyware is being used on the site? I know that there are ads/popups for non paid members, but was not aware that there was spyware

Hate it!! If it continues to grow exponentially, I will just look at other sites...and it will be a shame as this forum has grown a lot in the last 6-12 months to make it useful.

I too am getting sick and tired of the ads and pop ups.

I don't mind the ads at the top of each page (to the right)... but this is getting ridiculous.

And to pay $30 to remove the ads... Once agian, in my opinion ridiculous.

(If there has to be a cost, i would prefer there be a nominal charge, such as $5-10 per year to be a member of the forum. It is nuts to pay $30 just to remove ads)...

Guys - Firefox.

Didn't even know this site had popups. They certainly don't show up for me.

I do find the mid-thread ads annoying, but wouldn't pay to remove them, as every other forum I'm on is free and has no such advertising (including some of Australia's biggest forums, and many smaller ones).

Cheers,
- Febs.

It's very annoying! GREEDY owner!!!

I'm sure the admins will announce that this board has been bought by qantas any day soon. At least this will help explain some of the excessive `enhancements`.

Hmm free resource with some ads - sounds like free to air television. I havent noticed so many of the popups and at least the mid-thread ads arent for cough. For not such a big deal. Not something I am going to get angry over :)

It's not a big deal, a click and it's gone. Not like some other sites were
they keep on appearing.

Adds around the page are fine, as you would expect for most free resources on the web, however, I would like to see the pesky pop ups go.

Only had an issue when the pop-up ad caused the site to become essentially non-functional.

As mentioned by febs, the issue with the ads can be minimized without any outlay.

As far as paying for a subsription goes, It's obvious that this year there have been several enhancements to this forum's php software. Admin would have had to ante up a reasonable sum for this and would like a little help in paying for it. I have no problem with that; we can choose to use AFF or not in the manner that it's made available to us.

One has to have a bit of a laugh - over comments like "Greedy Owner".

I belings to a few forums; all of them FREE, FOC, as in NOTHING to pay...

I know the cost of running the software, the server and the time take to administer them...

So how can an owner be greedy when all they are doing is running some ads to offset the cost of supply YOU a FREE service?

Install a spam and pop up blocker and all you need put up with are the ads; just like TV, radio, newspapers and magazines
