Anyone managed to use their Amex to pay a supplier which does not accept Amex?

So anyone found a prepaid card for higher values like $1000 and above which can be bought with an AMEX?

For my business I pay suppliers using rewardpay but for personal expenses hoping for the above.

Apparently the prepaid visa at
Harvey Norman can be loaded with $1000. Cost 5.95 with $50 cash back now on.

Which HN sells the $1000 Visa? Is it physical or virtual card?
I've been to two - Moore Park $300 VPay and I had to get approval from the manager to buy 2 x $300 on one Amex and the Bondi Junction didn't know what it was until a supervisor said the machine 'didn't work'.

JohnK mentioned it in the New Amex Statements Credit thread - physical card.

If you set up Telstra to direct debit your Amex, there is no fee.

I thought I'd try this and this seems to be conflicting info on the Telstra website - it says there is no fee for DD if you use a credit card but when I enter the details it says there will be a 0.3% surcharge. I have a 13 digit account number and can't see any way of direct debiting to PayPal. I might try and online chat with Telstra when I have a day to spare.

What about the only1 prepaid visa card? Available online for $1000 + delivery

Nice find. Interesting to hear about the Amex option and if they charge a surcharge.

Thanks, have just sent them an email via contact us asking just that

My favourite points transaction was when purchasing a new car. I did have the help of a not so smart sales person at the car dealership. We agreed on the price of the car, I paid a reasonably large deposit on Amex. Work then decided that we would lease the vehicle. So I played dumb and when the leasing finance came through, asked for the deposit amount to be refunded to me as a cheque. Car sales person did not blink an eyelid and the cheque was in my account before my statement was due for payment.

What are the payment options?

Direct Debit is the preferred method of payment. Credit card purchases incur a 2.9% fee.

Gift Cards Direct will arrange delivery to your nominated address. There are two delivery options:
1. Standard: $14.95 including handling & delivery
2. Express: $24.95 including handling & delivery

$44 of fees on $1000 if they accept amex

Thanks for the heads up. 4.4% is getting a little steep. Can get the delivery charge down assuming they will let you order more than one at the one time.

Just wondering if anyone's tried to contact Amex directly about paying suppliers which normally does not accept Amex? Using Rewardpay is one option, but that has been getting mixed reviews on this forum, and also the processing fee is 2.4%

If Rewardpay make a business out of it by charging 2.4%, then surely there should be an option by going through Amex directly? If the processing fee is 2%, then maybe it's not too bad?

You can get 1.5 points per dollar spent using the Amex Explorer Card. Assuming you can get a tax deduction for your 2% processing fee, then that means you're getting 1.5 points for 1.4 cents spent

Apologies if this has been asked before. I tried searching through the forum, but couldn't find any info

Yes, I do this all the time. Sign up for Amex FX International Payments and set up domestic transfers with AccessLine, and it makes it so that one of the settlement options when making a domestic transfer is your Amex business or small business card (NOT personal!)

Only downside is to setup a domestic supplier on it for paying by Amex rather than direct debit from your bank, you have to send an invoice to your account manager and they have to load them in (usually same day, sometimes next day - it's a named account manager not some service centre queue) and it's apparently a pain to setup suppliers who are trading trusts with a corporate trustee.

They also will not setup a supplier who accepts Amex, unless that supplier uses Square or PayPal to do it.

Upside is they have good rates on international FX transfers, though not sure if those can be settled to card.
