I do not have a coravin yet but am going to buy either a model 2 or a model 3.
I know the model 3 is only new but before I bit the bullet and ordered one was curious if anyone had used one or could compare it to the Model 2.
Thanks

I have the first generation that is blue in colour and it works wonderfully for my needs. The reason I chose the first version was the price, as I don't operate a restaurant so do not need a flash looking device on display at a table. At the time, other than a few extras such as the display stand, perhaps some extra screw tops/needles and gas, you were really paying for a colour upgrade.

I see now that they've added a few more models, because for a while they had 1 and 2 and then 11 out of nowhere. But there's now 3, 5 and 6.

The biggest consideration I find is finding a store that can get the capsules in relatively cheaply I think, as you don't want to run out of gas and not have a capsule to swap in.

It's not a bad price, but most of the time the extra $10 for shipping really drags the value proposition down. Ideally, you want to know a store you can visit nearby, or relatively so, where you can pickup in person, to avoid the shipping charges.

For a while, I had found a seller on eBay that was able to get them to me for $29.95 and no shipping charge. Alas, all good things end.

Just had a look though, and if you have eBay Plus, this is a good deal as it comes with free shipping: NEW Coravin Capsules 2pk 858976004023 | eBay

If you only need the wine to stay in good condition for say 10-14 days, then the most efficacious solution is to buy a can of winesave, sparge the bottle, and keep it upright in a cool - fridge, wine fridge, cellar etc - place.

In general, wine preservation is a VERY complex subject as the greatest variable is the different composition of each wine. I helped the founder of winesave launch his product about 8 years ago and it has been well accepted by a great number of the worlds leading wine critics as an excellent, affordable wine preservation system.

if you want to consume a bottle over many months, then Coravin MIGHT be a better option. That said, of the many examples I’ve tasted, the results have been “mixed” to say the least.

finally, I receive no pecuniary benefit from the sales of winesave and am happy to help members offline with this subject if they wish to continue the discussion and / or require further advice.

30% off 24 packs of capsules at Coravin, ShopBack have a code that brings it down a little more and then have 6% CB. (+Free delivery)

brings them down to ~$8.53 / capsule
