My QFF qual year ends at the end of March, and with my current SCs and booked flights before 31/3, it looks like I'll end up with 2180 SCs this year. So, just enough to scrape through to Partner Gold, but not the 2400 SCs for anything else.

Mrs MatF hardly ever flies (she hates flying!), and when she does it's with me, so it would be a bit of a waste to give it to her (and she even agrees). Can't really think of any other family or friends who fly regularly to give it to.

Similar to this recent thread, except I don't realistically have the option of pushing on to 2400 SCs :

Ideas? Maybe I could auction it off and donate to the flood appeal.

Hi Mat,

I understand if you prefer someone more established on the forum or someone with a more generous offer, however I would be willing to make a $100 donation to the flood appeal or another charity of your choice in return for the privilege of being your "partner".

Many thanks for the thought, Bunza, but I should say that I'm not looking for bids - the thread title is a bit rhetorical. Appreciate it though.

Just after some ideas I guess, or perhaps musing about the total lack of value that PG appears to be for me.

Well.. if you're stuck for options, could you always donate it to the "Zoe & Husband's" first year anniversary trip to Hawaii and Las Vegas fund!

Zoe.

This subject line made me giggle profusely as when logging on today I typed in
"aff. com" and hit enter, forgetting I was on my netbook not 'real' laptop and my normal shortcuts don't work....

:shock: NOT safe for work - apparently AFF. com is 'Adult Friend Finder'....

Provided you aren't looking for THAT type of partner, MatF, I'm sure there would be heaps of people willing to take you up on that offer should you seriously offer, myself included. Not that I have much to offer... free hip replacement or some Botox??

Considering the fact that it was meant to be for your wifes benefit maybe you could use it to get her something that she values. And in turn make you very popular.

ie. flowers, dinner, hairdressing etc.

That way whoever gets to be your partner gets something that they want at a reasonable price, and your wife wins as well.

However, Qantas recently changed this so it can be given to anyone you know, no longer does it need to be "your partner" residing at the same address as you.

I think auctioning off Partner Gold status sounds like a good idea. Personally I quite like the idea of 50,000 QFF points (which I value at ~$1,250) upon reaching 2,400 SCs.

Not sure what Partner Gold would go for one eBay but it is much more useful than 1 year's Qantas Club membership with the possibility of getting comped Gold the next year and also given a trial 3 month membership to Qantas Club when dropping from Gold status.

If you want to donate the money to charity that is OK. But if you want to keep the money from the auction for yourself that is OK as well as you are the one who has done the hard yards. Just as an example there are plenty of people on Flyertalk who sell UA's 1P or 3P (I think I have the term right) nominations.

Well it's tough to match an offer of free Botox.... But here is my attempt. My bid is a year's supply of free cinema tickets!

I guess the real question to be asked is how my actual partner would react to me being showered with gifts from my "new partner fom the internet". I'm thinking that it would be an interesting conversation to explain that one.

hmmm... not that i need PG (as i just gave mine away) but a friend going OS in a few months would..

Perhaps I could swap a media pass for something if we are putting up bids !

Maybe I could bid free bananas from my farm ....!! Ooops, forgot I don't have any anymore thanks to Yasi......!

You've done the flying would be good if you and your wife could benefit. Ebay it & who knows you may have some to donate also.

Ooh more bids... Then I shall add to my Botox by adding the offer of a can of Bud so you can get points in the AFF scavenger hunt!!

Disclaimer 1: limited time offer... Only in US til tomorrow
Disclaimer 2: I've never used Botox for cosmetic purposes ( we use for stroke pt, spinal injuries and cerebral palsy kids) however I promise extensive Google related
self-education should my bid succeed :D alternatively would offer $$$ since my SC run to hit gold will likely cost a few hundred bucks.

Interesting.... first year of Qantas Club is $840, and with Gold being much more valuable (business check in, seat preference,etc..) I'm sure it's worth well into the 1500 range for the right person.

Also happy to volunteer, and provide something in return of course! Just uncertain as to what you'd be after ... being in a different state it's harder to volunteer manual labour, baby/petsitting etc! Happy to participate in an auction too :)

Well, I hit the 2,100 SC's yesterday (with 24 days to spare), and it looks like I'll end up with more at the end of my qual year than I thought - with flights already booked, I'll get to 2,220 SC's, so 180 SC's short of the 2,400 SC's to grab the 50,000 points.

I wonder if it would be worth trying to get there?

MrsH has not given me the choice. She has been particularly vociferous since her latest experience with NGCI.

I'll get there with a bit to spare thanks to an unforeseen requirement to be in the UK next week.

It does mean that I will spend more with QF than I would have done, so the enhancement worked for them........this year.
