Very silly question, if I applied for this offer do I need to open up an ANZ Savings account?

ok. Is the 50k offer still around? As I only see 25k?
Sorry am late to the party!

Ok thanks :)
Looks like I need to settle for the 25k. Anyone know the limit per year on the amoun tof credits card one can apply for?

I already applied for the citibank signature this year, so maybe I should wait until jan 2015 to apply for the anz card?

DOn't think there's a set maximum, but the rule of thumb is to leave 6-9 months between applications. That said I applied for my citi signature card last december, the amex gold charge & plat edge ( 2 seperate credit checks) in april, and then approved for the anz FF black in july. That's whilst doing a home loan last november and a commercial loan in march. Needless to say my credit score isn't looking great so am leaving it to heal for awhile.

hmm ok. I may leave it till Jan and apply for the ANZ to get 25k. Disappointed I missed the 50k bandwagon :P

Points came through today. Happy days. =)

I'll be spending $250 on this card for a holiday in Feb to activate insurance and then sticking it in a drawer.

You obviously haven't been watching CruzerElite! I reckon he/she would have to be up to about 15 card this year alone given the posts I'm seeing!:lol:

I don't think that one new application every 3 months is out of reach for most people on an average salary, but do keep closing the old accounts as you no longer need them. You don't want to be applying for a new card and have to list an available credit limit equalling the GDP of a small Pacific nation!

lol. Is the and offer the best qff offer for now?

It depends on how you judge "best" offer. Is it by annual fee? Card type? Extra bonuses like lounge access? Flight Centre vouchers? Sheer number of points? Required spend to reach points? Speed of points credit?
It's not the highest points offer at the moment, but it does have a low income requirement, no annual fee, and a relatively low spend requirement. Points are looking like taking the full 4 months (or more) to post though, so if that's an issue you might want to look elsewhere.

There is a thread here for a NAB card which is offering 40,000 points with no minimum spend but there is a card fee.

Then there is the Virgin offering here, and an Investic card with 100,000 QFF points if you've got more money than you know to do with and have high spend levels.

Thanks danwell. I guess my main priority is to have max points with as low annual fee as possible. Looks like the $0 fee on the ANZ might be the go for me at this stage.
i.e, ANZ black, with the 2 QP passes and 20000 QFF points. Then once I receive these, just cancel my card before the anniversary comes up so no annual fee required? Am I correct that this is the case?

It is a freebie in that there is no fee, and there are 25,000 points on offer, so it may well be the best "free" offer at the moment. Remember that points are likely to take the full four months to post, but if you canx the card after that and before your card anniversary there will be no annual fee charged.

If your current goal is maximising free points, I'd recommend you have a look at the Bankwest transaction account too. The 10,000 sign up bonus is now over, but at 5 QFF points per transaction and no fees if you deposit $2000 into the card each month, some are having success churning through transactions for large numbers of points. Plus, it's not a credit card so it's not another application that you need to worry about.

Thanks for the info. My other dilemma is QFF points, so hard to get reward seats:)

Are ATO payments on either the basic or platinum card eligible for points earn? Has anyone made payments and received/not received points? The T&Cs show this, my bolding:

(23) Exceptions.

  1. (a) Points will not accrue in relation to interest charges, premiums paid for ANZ Credit Card Insurance, government charges, bank fees, Card account adjustments resulting from disputed transactions or otherwise, Balance Transfers, cash advances and Cash Equivalent Transactions.

Plat is good for ATO.

I got my card in mid July, and the points have just posted in the ANZ site. Once they've swept across, time to cancel the cards and wait for the next offer :)
