ANZ Platinum, 50k bonus QFF points after $1500 spend, no annual fee first year

50k in. Are people cancelling the black card? $425 on annual fee seems quite a bit.

Going to get my two free Qantas Club passes first for the parents to use on their next holiday. :)

I'll definitely cancel before the renewal. I might hang on to it for a while before then, at least until the next good signup deal comes around and I need to reduce the size of my revolving credit pool to ensure approval. The $15k minimum limit is a PITA from that perspective.

I'm certainly cancelling before the 12 months are up. $425 is outrageous. But waiting to do so until the next bonus points offer comes up with someone else as the points earn is quite good as are the additional features of the card.

I have the Black QFF, but was wondering if I cancel the card, can I still show it at the airport lounges and get access? Do they swipe it or look it up on their database?

That would probably be a No according to the T&C

"To participate in the Program, you must hold a valid ANZ Rewards Black or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card which has not expired, been closed or
been notified to ANZ as having been lost or stolen (Eligible Card)"

Yes, but will the lounge know if it has been cancelled or do they just look at the card?

At the moment am keeping for the car rental benefit, not having to pay rental car additional insurance adds up.

Just noticed this feature, reading hte PDS about it now, it appears to only be for overseas travel? Don't suppose there's any equivalent for interstate?

Well, if it's like priority pass offline, then they will bill ANZ who will (or can, at least) then send you a bill.

But I doubt the lounge will check themselves so you can go ahead and try.

Black: Approved 16 July 50K points received 5 December.
Basic: Approved 4 August 50K points received 6 December.
Platinum: Approved 19 August 50K points received 19 December.
Its been a very Merry start to this Christmas ☺

Both lots 50K now in QFF so now to cancel and sit and wait for next round of offers.

Why cancel when one can get a 16 month 0% interest balance transfer offer? Pay the funds into your mortgage and wait until the annual fee is almost due and then cancel the card. Depending on your limits, you can save a bit of cash doing this

No mortgage = no savings - apply / spend / accumulate / cancel / repeat over and over whilst banks continue to rain bonus pts offers apun you.

Do the above and then put into a savings account in lieu of mortgage - free money after you get the points and cancel before the annual fee is due

I took the Cruiser approach when cancelling. "It's not you I'm unhappy with, it's QFF. I might be interested in another ANZ product in January." Yep a long 0% balance transfer card would interest me...

My son got his 50,000 Qantas points yesterday. I did not bother as the earn rate is very ordinary.

How do you get this offer on an existing card? The T&C say for new card holders only... did you just call up to cancel and they offered it to you?
