Definitely dont think I'll hang onto this one past the first year
The exclusion period before you can get the card again and be eligible for another sign up bonus doesn't start till you cancel the card so it's best to cancel well before the first year is up.

My next Visa card will be from NAB who i have never banked with so no exclusion period to worry about, then have other banks to cycle through before getting back to ANZ, but will keep it in mind.

NAB now has an exclusion period where they didn't use to. Less and less cards don't have an exclusion period now. Depending how many points you're after having a rough plan as to which cards you'll want to get and the timeframe (if the offers are right on those cards) can help with deciding how long to keep cards.

Understand but as I've never had a NAB card before I dont need to worry about the exclusion period for my first card, when Im ready to get it.

I like to have an Amex, Visa and MasterCard active at all times as I often use pre-sales that are card specific and where merchants pass on fees, I can choose the best card for individual purchases based on the situation.

Appreciate the advice :)

As the earn rate is good with ANZ I will keep it for 11 months, then switch to NAB before annual fee is due. Given NAB dont waive the annual fee, i will also keep that for 11 months to ensure i get max value (not just the sign-on bonus) for the fee I will likely have to pay.

I've already booked all my non work travel for this year, so have time up my sleeve before I need another big Credit card sign-on bonus for a new redemption.

My ANZ Black turned up yesterday out of the blue. Not notification. Nothing. Classic.
Will be doing the $2500 spend this week and then cancelling for an easy points earn. Then will apply for DH as well. ;) (I would have done this earlier, but we will be overseas and I don't want to miss the 3 month limit as I will be using other cc's overseas)

Was going to apply for this as my 12 months has just passed in March but I have recently refinanced with ANZ and have a Platinum card as part of my package. Reading through the T&Cs I am not eligible now because of this :(

'Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous twelve months.'

You may be in the wrong thread, because the "ANZ rewards" type and the "ANZ frequent flyer" type are completely different and the 12 month exclusion clause only applies to cards of the same type.
This is about the Rewards black card, not Frequent Flyer (ie QFF).

Ooops, my bad I am in the wrong thread o_O

Everyone make sure you get the cancellation letter when you ring up to cancel your card. I cancelled mine back in January and I chopped up the card.
I rang ANZ three weeks ago to find out the exact date for cancelling my previous qff card, I was then told about my rewards card and how I wsan't using it and the last transaction on it was from January.
The silly woman that I had spoken to had not cancelled it.

how many pay slips they need? Just back to work so have only 2 pay slips so far and the 1st one is not for full month...

Well, I have had my first Credit Card Rejection for the ANZ Black. Got the SMS saying I have been unsuccessful, however they say a formal notification will be in 3-5 days. I think maybe cause i have 3 Credit Cards currently. I know I earn enough money, and have plenty of assets

I am also a home loan customer from them, so I might be temped to call up and ask what is happening...
I might apply for the Frequent Flyer Platinum, the bonus is 65K and a slightly lower earn rate (not a big deal) but the income test is only 30K

I would think its some other reason. I have 5 CC's and I got approved for the ANZ one. Could it be because you applied too soon from your last one?

I would check the reason, before applying for the FF Platinum with 65K bonus.

Hi
I have been cancelling a few cards to get ready to apply for an ANZ card once again but when I went to the ANZ website today the terms and conditions of all the offers have changed. The $0 annual fee for the first year for various cards has now disappeared and replaced with a modest cashback, depending on the card. The points earn remains the same but there will be a net amount payable from the difference between the card fee and the cashback.

So is the link in earlier part this thread still valid or not? In other words is there an $0 annual fee offer still available or not. The link still appears to be valid.

The link in the first post is valid, this is an "internet banking" offer. ie supposed to be for IB customers.
The public website, as you say, is just a small cashback offer but no spend requirement (only one purchase).

Just an update on my ANZ application. I called up today and quoted the referral number. The operator started just confirming some of my details. She asked me what my share of expenses was, cause I put in my families expenses and not just mine.

Anyway after a bit of waiting on the phone, she re-submitted it and I got approved.
The funny thing is earlier got an email from Credit Savvy saying there had been an activity on my file. I checked and they said it was for a ANZ Credit card, but the limit was $50,000. I am sure i just selected for them to give me a limit, I should have gone for the minimum.

Anyway so the card will be here in a few day. It will be interesting to know if I get the annual fee for nothing or if it will be this new cashback thing they have implemented. I didn't take any screenshot of the website, so I will just have to see if I can say it wasn't there when I applied...

Considering how much good press banks have had lately, who knows what will be the outcome.

Interestingly when I went to the website the link quoted doesn't seem to be lined from the current website (i.ee. its an orphan page?). Also when you go to the annual fee waiver link on the credit cards page no annual fee offers show up. I have my doubts whether the offer is currently valid.

I applied at the weekend for my wife and the old offer was still there then. But failed to follow my own golden rule and PDF it, never mind IPDFed the internet banking link just now.

Rather than risk the offer disappearing I put in an application today. Handy for some extra Velocity points.
