APEC Business Travel Card

Interesting, though not very surprising.

I'd asked a similar question of the ABTC team in Brisbane some time back, and didn't hear from them. I guess it's quite a deal more complex than just Australia agreeing to extend the term on our card. All the other economies would need to agree and action from their sides as well.

Cheers,
Matt.
Good point.

But if they weren't planing to print new cards, I wish they didn't 'issue' them until printing recommenced. That could have given us another 6 months of validity (or at this rate, 12+ months...).

Its now 29-Sept and I'm still waiting for PNG and the other 3 :(

THEY NEED TO JUST START PRINTING THEM AGAIN !

I have an approval from my destination country - that if I arrive with APEC card - I will be allowed entry ...

Anybody get any reply on when they might start printing cards again? I've asked but no reply...

BREAKING NEWS.... I just received phone call from home affair dept ! They are resuming printing THIS WEEK... And , on a personal note, my (interim) card has been "prioritized" and will be printed and mailed tomorrow 14 October... You heard it here first !

Am hoping mine will turn up 1 day soon.. I have my approval to leave, just need the card in place of a visa.. glad they are printing again

Is your approval for short term business travel?

Am heading to png and then singapore with no immediate plan to return in a rush and after 5 applications they finally accepted it

Yeah - I was rejected 3 times for "leave Australia".... Then I got a tip on how to apply such that it would succeed. I followed that tip, and presto, approved in less that 24 hours from applying......

BTW ( anecdotally ) the category "compassionate/humanitarian reasons" e.g. like family reasons or need to see sick relative or to rejoin close family..... that category is being rejected near 90% of the time because mostly semi unverifiable sob stories. I do not doubt that most of the stories are true, but if you want to stick with the high % chance of succeeding.... that is not it. Only one of my 3 rejections was that category..... ;)

And now - after so much waiting/hurdles to get the card - and to get outbound approval.... I do agree with Laf2610 when he writes.... "no immediate plans to return".... seems like its better to be based outside Australia at the moment. Every country has "freedom of exit for foreigners" but to some degree, all countries restrict their own citizens from leaving. So if based outside Aust, for next 6 months or so, and have freedom to enter countries that you'd like to (or need to) enter..... seems like you have the most freedoms...... That's just my current way of thinking :D

With all their green lanes and upcoming travel bubbles, Singapore sounds like a good shout. Be free! Haha.

I still haven’t heard anything about my interim card and had no reply from the generic email. Can someone advise me, do they contact you (as they did Sean) or just send it out.. and would anybody have the contact details for the BNE office..I got lost in the hybrid website!

In addition to the phonecall described earlier... on the day they posted it I received an automated email, with subject line: Your APEC Business Travel Card has been issued.

The email itself is nothing - word for word identical to the email I received in June when told me it was on its way. Actual text of the email below:

Has anyone recently got the approvals from Vietnam and Korea? I've been waiting for these 2 countries for nearly a year.
