I also wanted to track the car for issues with lost when parking and if it got stolen.

Finding where you parked your car is useful…..but potentially frustrating when it’s in a multi-storey car park

I'd have thought you'd hand over the spare keys too. Out of interest, how long would you wait for the money to arrive before tracking the car and getting the police involved?

Depends if they were doing a test drive then only one set of keys.

I haven't really thought about it too much.

Last time I did this I made the purchaser come to the bank with me because she paid cash.

Slight off topic, can I ask if anyone has used an airtag to track their children's car?

We have an apple airtag hidden in the back of the car. Bear in mind:

• Needs a battery change each 12 months so it cannot be totally inaccessible.
• New passengers (kids' mates with iphones) have reported getting the "there is an airtag following you" message
• It can be disconcerting when you are away as we were on the weekend. With everyone out of the house the car was safely 'last updated' as at the time we left. The last time an iphone had been within distance. When I randomly checked on Monday, the car's position had been updated within the previous 30 minutes. Still garaged but someone had been within whatever distance for an update. In that case I would have preferred not to know.
• In the event of a car theft, I will just hope that my thieves don't ahve iphones and don't get the stalker warnings.

With the battery issue, when not travelling I do take the batteries out of the baggage airtags until their next trip. I've misplaced one unpowered airtag.

I have ten of them in use, plus a couple of spares. My wife has a bunch too.

We have them in anything that's attractive or could be misplaced (i.e. camera bags, backpacks, wallet, purse) as well as attached to our many sets of keys. And given the price of a replacement set of electronic car keys, they're very cheap insurance. They've helped me find my keys at home quite a few times...it's amazing where I put them sometimes.

I doubt that they'd work at all in the scenario you describe airborne though.

From a web search … “not all aircraft luggage containers are hard aluminium on all sides, many modern cargo hold containers have soft-sided access panels, typically made from a durable fabric or flexible material”. So, an Air Tag in a luggage container could, possibly, radiate its weak (typically 10 to 20 metre) Bluetooth signal out of the luggage container and it could, possibly, be received by a passenger or crew iPhone on a WiFi equipped aircraft and transmitted back to Apple, decoded, and be sent to the registered Air Tag owner.

Long shot. But with some luggage containers having non signal reflecting material at the access hatch and increasing numbers of aircraft offering WiFi, an Air Tag owner could feasibly receive a decoded Air Tag position report from his own Air Tag just below him. In which case many Air Tags in the same baggage container may well get their signals out and returned as a position report to their registered owners … the owners being, quite likely, aboard the same aircraft.

We had a few lost luggage problems so some time ago got air tags. So had to change my trusty Samsung for an iPhone.
Last week that iPhone just died. Couldn't be resurrected. Now we have started HLO air tags not really needed. Goody I said now I can go back to a Samsung. Office works had the cheapest phones on the coast but of the popular brands the iPhone 16 was the cheapest. So I am still with Apple.

Well at least I have Onepass and only 30 days until we go OS.
