Are most of you CX AM members or QFF members?

Thanks for a very informative post that's highly relevant to my situation. I am currently earning with QFF but intend to switch to CX once I hit QFF lifetime Gold. Any thoughts on this strategy? Based in Asia now, so many more opportunities to earn with CX.

I can attest to your report on CX upgrades. On QF I received one upgrade in 20 years of membership, while on CX I have been upgraded on two of my last four flights!

Many others have switched out of QFF once obtaining LTG myself included. I'm based in HKG now and fly CX on average 1 flight/ week this year.

You're spot on with QF upgrades I was in a similar position with no upgrades in 3 years as platinum1.

Cathay upgrades are everywhere and make flying much more exciting. It also means if I'm paying a premium to fly CX it's okay because I know soon enough there will be an upgrade and it makes the price worthwhile. With qantas however, you pay a premium every time and don't get a lot of much.

I booked some J awards recently by transferring Amex points into AM and saved a lot compared to QFF. For example 160k AM buys 2 J return tickets Aus-HKG whereas in QFF 130k would only buy ONE return ticket!
