Are our points worthless now?

Has this ever happened to Qantas points in the last say 20 years ?
(serious question)

Clearly they became more valuable when the various award classes started earning SC and points when booked as an ASA.. And that wasn't really that long ago.

Our strategy for some years now is to have mrsdrron remain in QFF so she can obtain WP.Our flying would not qualify us to be EXP in Aadvantage.
Her points are mainly used on upgrades though we did enjoy the JASAs SYD-JNB-SYD recently.
I am with aadvantage as it used to be easier to get lifetime status but Aawards are much better value.35K points for a return J award to NZ is nice.As well a few Decembers ago able to get 2 J Aawards BNE-AKL-SYD when mrsdrron couldn't do it on QFF as a WP.Even ringing QF.
Next year aiming to fly from LHR-NRT.No problem with F availability on BA through aa.com.Cant be done on line with QFF.

I can recommend such strategy for couples.
