Are the Lounge staff playing with me... Or are they serious!

I was in the Sydney Lounge on the Xmas day and had no issues with the staff. I was able to get a couple of Crown(s) without any questions.

Standard customer service for one, does not excuse poor customer service to another.

Also, maybe the liquor service rules are different in Sydney?

Most likely. The staffer in brisbane may have handled it a little badly but was just following the rules they were legally required to follow. Failure to follow could have led to a fine (not sure how much, but likely to be up to $5000).

The different liquor laws must be frustrating.

Good luck asking for a double in WA!

I'm still not overly fussed... I'm hoping the VA social media team is on leave though as they've ignored my festive tweet (which is poor form)

As the saying goes: "Queensland. Beautiful one day, 1934 the next."

<Ducks for cover.>

Reminds me of the law in Canada when I lived there a while ago. No alcohol (ie unopened) allowed to be in vehicles on election day!
