I'm wondering whether anyone has any sites/apps/other for checking the prices of hotels or flights that they are planning on booking in the future.
I travel primarily for leisure and my poor planning has led me to have only middle tier status with SPG, Hhonors and FaimontPC so I have no particular loyalty to any chain currently. This gives me flexibility of hotel choices but with leave being very tight in my job, I must know my dates for leave over a year in advance.
What i currently do is have a glance around at prices every now and then and book if a good deal comes up, or if the dollar is strong, or just before some advance purchase deadline is about to expire. I'm wondering if anyone has found some sort of thing to watch prices at a specific hotel for a set of dates, or even an area/location and then inform you somehow if they drop or there is a deal out.
The same would be great for airfares. I usually use Qantas but sometimes there are no convenient flight routes and I am happy to choose from a range of carriers. If one were to have a sale then I would book, but I find it impractical to sign up to all the airlines mailing lists. And while I'm on it, does anyone find MH don't ever let you know when they have a sale? And TG don't seem to have a mailing list at all...
Anyway, do you have a similar problem and have you found a better solution than checking every day?
