FF point cough? Sounds crude, I know, but I don't know if there is an appropriate term other than that.

Anyway, the reason I ask is because I started lurking at AFF a couple of years ago and started learning some of the tricks surrounding earning and using FF points. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had his/her eyes opened here thanks to the experience, ingenuity and foresight of seasoned FFers and it's turned me into what I can only describe as a point cough.

I take every opportunity to earn FF points. For example, I only shop at Woolworths after switching my Everyday Rewards card from fuel vouchers to points, I churn credit cards after discovering new ways to grab new bonuses, I buy wine from epicure to get bonus points even though my wife works for a major wine company and we get staff rates and we have plenty of stock, I book accommodation through QF web page for the bonus points, I jump at everyday rewards offers ... You get the point. I also try to maximize status credits and points by not flying direct when time permits.

I feel like I'm talking at an AA meeting but at least there are benefits to a healthy point balance like taking my first JASA with the family earlier this year and gifting some points to my wife so she can take a ADL-BNE-TSV-BNE-ADL JASA with a double status credit offer to get to SG.

Surely, I am not the only one. Am I?

Far from the only one !! Have discovered the same appetite for points since joining AFF 4 yeras ago and recently cracked 3million points  More importantly I now know how to use them a lot smarter JASA's for a points return on points !!

I'll chase FF points wherever I can, but not to the exclusion of everything else. For example, I no longer shop exclusively at WW because their local store has gone downhill and Coles have gone the other way.

Points are only one of many influencing factors.

There would be plenty of us with a lot of stuff we may not need and no points to show for them!

But what would happen to all the points if Qantas sells of it,s frequent flyer programs?

For a buyer to get any value, it would still need to be firmly tied to QF. And who knows? The benefits may be better if it gets out of the tight fists of the QF board.

I worry about points only when they are good value or convenient, so no i'm still a bit of a prude... :)

Prior to discovering this forum I collected points casually as I didn'tt think they were of any real benefit, now I am bordering on OCD and drivng the other half mad with directions on what card to use where and when .
SWMBO said the worse thing the other day "Can't we cut up the credit cards? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

YES TOTALLY - AND LOVING IT !!!

Excellant idea! I may do the same

Interestingly, Mrs Paddy has been steadily coming around.
I was talking about all the Priority Club offers I've signed up for in preparation for our Dec/Jan holidays, and she thought they were a great idea!
(Mind you, only flying J & F Internationally the past couple of years has helped immensely

I don't fly as often or stay in hotels as I like to. However I love collecting points as my first flirtation was with flybuys which got me a few redemptions (No toasters thanks), but now I am a member (and my family) of various programs thanks to this forum. People might think I am crazy but when I redeem great redemptions (J/F flights or hotels) on points and they will be enviously asking how I did it? My response will be I mentioned it to you a couple of years ago and you just stared blankly at me...

However, you must calculate are the points you are earning worth it or is it better to shop around. For example I have not been in a WW/BWS/Big W store in over a month because of the lack of offers! However I have directed some of my shopping towards Cellamasters! ;)
