Strategy to obtain US Amex

Looks like I may have already been blacklisted by Chase.

Applied for a Marriott Boundless card and it has been declined due to previous unsatisfactory relationship with no way to recon.

Only other card I previously had was the ink preferred which was approved, then account locked for review when trying to activate the card. Subsequently closed by chase due to having a thin credit file.

I had a lengthy debate with them on this (As they messed up my transfer in Nov). They 100% assured me it was per calendar year and I could do another one as soon as Jan 1 - i haven’t done it yet as I’m about to gain some more points with a card upgrade here but will then test what they said. I have it in writing if they try and wriggle out of it

Currently AU Amex char mentioned it can take 2 weeks .
On my first try US Amex said it can’t be done .

They told me that too but in practice it took a few days.

Are they any good - i also occasionally use services for getting goods from US - and my recent experience with MyUS (after not using for many years) was poor and very expensive!

MyUS stopped letting me know about ordinary letters (which they once did) during the past year even though I was not subscribed to the mail package. I moved on to US Global Mail which is working well, although even more expensive again.

I second US Global Mail. Excellent service; meanwhile, MyUS has substantially dropped in service quality over the years.

P2 just been approved for hsbc premiere card . Is it automatically sent via courier to a non US mailing address or does one need to request same ? Do they provide tracking ?

Should be automatic by DHL. It will go to whatever you have set as mailing address on account I think

They’ve never sent to me on either debit or credit. But I guess you could ask. They turned up (to Aus) pretty quickly

Actually correction. Just checked. I did get an email with a DHL tracking code for the credit card (but mot the debit)

Some DPs with Barclays:

Applied for the Hawaiian Credit Card 70K miles with 1 purchase.

• Applied - was denied
• Called Recon - asked to provide ID, ITIN and Statement
• Called 2 days later confirm whether documents were received. They mentioned it was assessed and foreign passport isn't acceptable and neither is ITIN CP565 which is odd because the previous agent said those would be accepted.
• They checked and said the CP565 should have been accepted but foreign passport is a no. They asked if I could provide a US Visa (I said I didn't have one - not going to lie), they said I could submit a foreign DL. I saw a few DPs on reddit where Canadian DL were accepted.
• So I just re-submitted the CP565 and my NSW DL.

Not holding breath but they seem fairly helpful. If I get denied then so be it.

Very interesting if they do accept with AU DL. Do you have a decent score and credit file? I’m only 6 months into the game so I think I’d be an outright no even with the above
