Arggg CX pricing and marketing rules

So I want to fly Mrs Albatross from Brisbane to Delhi, I will join her enroute as I will be working in MNL. Should be simple right? Hong kong or SIN look the best hubs to use. HKG has the better timings which look good right up until I try booking :

BNE - DEL 6,637 mi = AUD878
MNL - DEL 3,042 mi = AUD1,032
HKG - DEL 2,331 mi = AUD2,420

I know the miles aren't important so I put them there to demonstrate the inverse nature of the pricing.

I think I will just have to wait until they run a sale out of HKG.

Have you tried adjusting your country/point of sale? CX is one where they differentiate based on country of sale, rather than country of origin...

Wow. That's one hell of a discrepancy. And it adds weight to the argument that nobody knows what a "mistake" fare is. Looking at those prices you'd think you the ex-BNE fare must be an error.

interestingly was able to get a fare priced out of HK by a travel agent.

I did try doing it online by setting my VPN to HK and selecting Hong Kong - English on CX website but I could not do it online.

Not really surprising that the direct flight from HKG is the most expensive one, even if the miles flown are less.
