Article: Airlines Easily Filling Premium Cabins Without Business Travel

I couldn't care less about covid and social distancing, but for me after 3 years of no (international) travel - and that many years worth of travel budget saved up, I really want a comfortable and relaxing leisure experience. SQ had very good prices at the point they dropped their PCR mandates for transiting, so I couldn't help but scoop up a 5.6k return to EU.

What sort of dates?

I can’t see any reasonable paid premium seats to Europe from May thru Sep this year. Probably this leisure demand *and* reduced flights thanks to closed air space…

Edit: Oh, and no Chinese airlines dumping capacity on “Kangaroo routes” that drive down prices….

I flew QF24 BKK/SYD in March, J class was full and Y 80-90% full , however QF23 SYD/BKK return in April was empty in Y class, only 5 pax in back section while J was again full. The full flight to Sydney was the day after border full opening which may explain the load. I can’t say I saw any evidence of QFF snapping up 20% discounted classic award seats to Thailand in Y class, the every changing Thailand Pass rules could be to blame for that. Recent searches for BKK/SYD/BKK classic award seats on QF24/QF23 show availability on most days. The latest version of Thailand Pass has dropped all pre-flight and test and go requirements, no more quarantine needed, so all those classic award seats between SYD and BKK are a great way for family and friends to plan a Thailand vacay.
PS rooms at Thai resorts are also great value these days

Mid May to mid June. I think SQ did some discounts on account of nobody wanting to fly them due to PCR requirements, and that shortly went away as they managed to sell enough tickets once that requirement was gone.
