Article: Complete Guide to Velocity Status Benefits on Partner Airlines

Etihad also removed priority baggage for Velocity Gold members.
Not sure how recently this change occured. I flew EY Y as VA Gold in late June and had my bags priority tagged. Impressively this actually resulted in them being first on to the carousel at DUB.

It's still listed as a benefit on the Velocity site.

Hmm. It’s been removed from the list here:

But still listed here:

I’ll try to get clarification.

I wouldn't trust any recent updates to the Velocity site...I think the work experience kid is doing most of them.

They made a complete mess of their initial updates to the page re Singapore Airlines lounge access...it took them several edits to get it right...in the meantime a whole lot of confusion ensued.

I am struggling to find a definite answer on this so hopefully some knowledgeable people can enlighten me.

I think I'm going g to fly PER-SIN-HKG and back with SQ. I don't want to buy this via the VA website. It sucks! It costs more and there is no seat selection . It's annoying because people say phone VA or phone SQ or/and use the SQ PNR. This does not work and there are plenty examples around showing it doesn't work and we don't want to be left with rubbish seats.

So booking through SQ is the way to go. Cheaper and with seat selection. I do wish to provide VA FF but the question is simply;

Do you get VA status credits.
Do you get points?.

I believe it's less points than having a VA codeshare(well that's fine) but surely you do get the status credits?

Thanks

If you are VA platinum, then a lot less points...you miss out on the 100% platinum bonus on miles flown...this is only applicable to SQ booked as a VA flight number. SCs will be close to the same.

Yep understand that points is less as Plat but not worth the stress until VA allows for seat selection on SQ or even NH metal. The SC is what matters here.

It’s curious about the seat selection issue. My recent experience relating to two reward J flight bookings for 2025, booked with velocity points. I was able to select seats via the SQ website. I entered my KF details in the booking. I am a KF silver status , whether that makes any difference?

Im guessing that with reward flight it does not
matter entering KF numbers as not earning anything at all via VA so entering actual carriers FF programme is possible to choose seats? . Can this be done via a dummy booking as I see quite good availability down the back on SQ using VA points. Business availability is a lot of points....

Unfortunately, you won’t be able select seats via a dummy booking, as you need to book via VA then select seats via SQ.
As @jase05 previously alluded to ADL seems a sweet spot for J rewards ADL-SIN @57k points one way (Y is 27k). And from what I’ve observed there are only two J seats for VA rewards on SQ278/279

I made a velocity award booking last week; SQ marketed and operated flighs. Of note:
  • My velocity number is "in" the booking !?!
  • I could select seating on the SQ website using the Amadeus PNR provided by the VA e-ticket document.

I transferred VA points to SQ and then suddenly everything opens up for availability. Indeed now have just booked for two persons PER-SIN-HKG and back again for the equivalent of 250,000 VA points (162,000 Kris) and 400 AUD for both. I think that's not too bad. Seat choices and book the chef included!!

I have never had any issues selecting seats with VA J redemptions on SQ.
Sometimes availability though isn’t as good but in the past I’ve had no problem getting 2x J awards in and out of ADL and a couple of years back I scored 4x J seats BNE-SIN-HAN

Did you at time of being the VA redemption enter SQ Kris number and this potentially opening up the availability of seat choice? Just trying to understandetand all the stories or failure and sucess and why I was not unable to select seats when I did dummy run...simply said seat choice not available. So there remains for some reason, conflicting views.

Incidentally VA wanted 316,000 VA points each way (for two) between PER - HKG- PER in biz...economy was between 29,000 and 60,000 each way depending on the time of day of travel. My dates are quite rigid.

Nope
Simply booked the award seats and used the SQ PNR supplied. Normally just go on SQ website and use PNR to select seats and book the cook

Priority check-in isn't listed in the guide for SQ but according to the Velocity website it is a benefit for both Gold and Platinum passengers.

Seat selection issues occur when the flight carries a VA flight number only...so for paid VA codeshare flights on SQ. As awards are always SQ coded there are no seat selection problems for award flights.

I recently experienced SQ's 'The Private Room' in Singapore and had a look at the F lounge. One can only dream that access would be granted to VA Platinum members but I think the size of the lounge is the biggest issue. Huge shame as I am in Singapore 2-3 times a year

Is it still SQ Krisflyer Gold Lounge for VA Gold and Platinum holders?

For clarity though....this must be only once ticketed and SQ PNR provided. Going through the process for seat selection at time of booking, on VA, it says seat choice not available.
