Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

Close. It was a joint AC/SK lounge. Used it many times.
Ah, it was probably just SAS then when I went there. AC, UA and LH had moved to T2 with new lounges. I remember the staircase upper level from that incarnation.

So I may be able to get “once more for old times sakes” in when I’m there in a few weeks?

Have never experienced the fabled cupboard. All of my AKL lounge time was as a LAN platinum, wherein I used to do many, many segments AKL-SYD and vv
Can’t say I miss the business section although it was “ok”

No works in progress.

Nothing blocked off inside int security.
Lots of crane works outside though.

Thanks. Can't even use the EK lounge as no EK flights when I fly.

The only way currently for QF WP/SG/J PAX to use the EK lounge (other than to be on the flight to DXB) is to be on the 8pm QF to MEL as the EK lounge opens 5:15pm.

In the Auckland “First” booth as we speak. Front desk staff as clueless as ever and clearly annoyed by the question as to when the long promised renovation would start. “We keep getting told it will be soon.” Great.

Experience the same as it was before Covid- filled up to the brim with two last seats for my partner and myself. Lounge totally overheated for some reason. Miserable food selection and, grumble, no “First” champagne even anymore. Saving grace is the ice cream fridge.

And one miracle- the shower in the men’s bathroom is open. I thought I never see this in my life since it had been “out of order” pre-Covid and post-Covid. But there it is, a boring standard pretty normal shower. After all the crazy phantasy stories I had made up in my head over the years about what might be going on in there- no, it’s indeed just a shower.

... the other side of the door.

Well- that’s where this has gone. A little spelling class wouldn’t be the worst for this lounge crew either…
Hmm, the fact they've put a sign out probably indicates it's just a temporary thing?
