Just a shame that Qantas still have most expensive international business class fares. Almost impossible to ever get international business classic rewards to London from Adelaide. As an Adelaide based business traveller find it expensive and time wasting to travel out of Australia on Qantas since they dumped their ADL-SIN and ADL-AKL flights. Very disappointing that they have no interest in Adelaide international travellers when even Emirates are returning and Qatar increasing seats out of Adelaide. There will be 8 international carriers with direct Adelaide flights and our so-called “National” carrier continue to give poor service and high fares to international business travellers from SA. A pity their duopoly partner Virgin do not have direct flights to UK or USA from Adelaide even if via SIn or Akl.

I booked a couple of these last week during the DSC Promotion from ADL-PER because Business Class was cheaper than Flexible Economy. I thought my eyes were seeing things.

Flex Economy was $825 and Business was $699 at the time.

Pretty good deal.

Like you @Mattg I bought my first J seat ($509) in many many years on a recent BNE/MEL flight and it was in last years DSC. That pushed me over the edge.

Will be interesting to see how long the reduced QF J fares last.
Well aside Melb-Bri they have been going for some months turns out late August 2023 now
I had expected a 3 day sale and viola not to be - never ended

Suggests the forward bookings are light

“People Power is a thing”

And now the APS has signed off on a 109% work from home deal, will there be any public servants “getting on planes”?

Ditto, Was doing a simply SYD<>MEL booking for Novemeber during the DSC period, wanted the return to be flexible and in fact J was cheaper then Flex Y..

From the original post, the only WA route with price reductions is ex Perth to ADL

Qantas still whcking its WA customers with the big stick, with over $5k charges on flights to/from east coast.

When will Qantas try to be an airline treating all Australian customers fairly?

These discounted QN fares have been available since late last year. They r a good option as they are cheaper than the economy flex fares are are fully refundable (unlike flex fares that have $99 cancellation fee) or can be transferred with no penalty to a similarly priced fare. I tend to book QN business discounted flights several months in advance and espcially when there is a DS promo. if I can’t travel on the booked date I either cancel for a full refund or shift the flight to a future date. Agree with others that Virgin business is generally better value especially with the fly ahead on the day option but at least QN now has a competition offering. Better than using frequent flyer points as the status credits allocated are higher.

That’s a constant theme from looking at the bookings
Y Flex higher priced than J
Same for some trans Tasman non stop and also TT with an AU domestic segment.
Hence have booked some DCS J & Y flights that ensures will be QF gold for my current QF status year and for my 2024-25 QF status year. Were not there a week before. As BNE-MEL is 857 miles (over the 750 mile zone) compared to SYD-MEL (439 miles) get a few more SC via BNE. And domestic<-->international easier at BNE.

Being Adelaide based could not agree more!!!!!!!!

not that good if one is in perth with only one way out (adelaide) and then nothing. full cost from adelaide to elsewhere?

Prices down again during this sale. Not sure on availability though.

It’s another $10 off and availability is pretty broad spread across the year suggesting “soft forward bookings” given the oppositions pricing. QF is still higher

SC and points already lodged in the account while in-flight !
