Basically many people understand dimensions in mm/cm/m etc.

If you were to ask me how tall I was in cm I wouldn't have a clue. But I have known my height in feet and inches for well over half a century.

I guess 300 million Americans can't be wrong... (not that I'm American).

The article doesn't actually say you can select Row 4 at T-80, just that the Row is no longer blocked at T-80.
My interpretation is that you can select Row 4 seats for free at T-24 (Online check-in) if available, bit this highly unlikely IMHO.
At T-80 you may select available Row 4 seats for a fee, unless you are WP/WP1 (happy to be corrected on this)

Inches is the global industry standard for measuring seat pitch. (We can debate whether it should be, but that's a topic for another time )

I just checked and 45A/K are still free to select on the A330-300.

Yes, that is correct re. T-80. At this time, row 4 on the 737 becomes available to select (albeit not necessarily for free). At T-24 (at online checkin) they become free (of charge) if still available.

The other thing you have to love about QF on these A330 - row 30 set as preferred seating ($20 trans Tasman) to "sit closer to the front so you can disembark faster". For a non-status, this is the first row shown in Economy, so probably lots of people thinking they are paying for the front row (as the seat selection screen doesn't even show anything further forward). They are going to be disappointed when the find the 7 rows in front of them (and that other pax could select for free earlier).

I'm a WP and about to fly out tomorrow in QF94 (A380) economy and confused about one thing.

Currently I'm at 56G and the seat on my left 56F appear blocked. But if I move to another seat, for example, 69H, then my original seat 56G become blocked. What's the reason for that?

What I'm trying to do is to get an aisle seat in the middle section with a free seat next to it. Hence was wondering if 56F is really occupied or not.

Got to love QF consistency - may be free on the A330-300 on longer routes, but being charged on the A330-200 AKL-BNE and vice versa.

That's because the a330-300 a330-200 for that part is slightly different. In the 300 the giant escape rafts are on the doors which block the legroom somewhat. Where as this is not quite the same on the 200s and you do get the full empty space in front.

Your WP is casting a shadow however if the flight is actually full then it doesn't matter if your casting a shadow or not as it'll get overwritten at check-in.

Maybe I was just lucky but I was originally in 56A on a 789 and when I looked 48 hours prior to check in I was able to select 40C (bulkhead) for no additional cost. 40 DEF are available for $190. I am only a bronze level. When I made the change, my original seat was no longer available to select. The flight appears to be nearly full. I have mixed feelings. Happy to have no one reclining into me and getting off the plane faster. Not happy that the IFE and tray are in the side of the seat.

I am wondering what happened. Maybe 40C was a WP who got upgraded?
