Tim tams are an exception to the rule!! Nobody complains about them😀

Dunno if the food is ‘much better’ in the lounge! Maybe for top tier international, or the select few that have access to upgraded domestic lounges.

Qantas Clubs, AAdmirals clubs and BA’s economy/club lounges are all pretty big on processed foods, or at best, ‘fresh’ foods that are then high in carbs (lots of potato and pasta) with high-calorie dressings.

I think ambient snacks do have a place though… morning or afternoon tea with a pack of biscuits is sometimes nice :)

Lounge food is generally as junky as plane food with the exception of some a la carte offerings in lounges like Emirates First in Dubai. I have not eaten on a plane no matter how long the flight for the last 8 years and in terms of wellness I have never felt better when I arrive at my destination.

I don't mind the "ambient snack" provided that on flights over typically meal times the snack isn't the only thing on offer. I still like to get my hot dinner.

I always figured sitting on an air plane is dead time (compared to the lounges), so that's the time to have dinner (and watch movies). On the ground (and in lounges) I have the space to spread out a little and do that extra bit of work if required. On the ground I have guaranteed access to Internet (unlike on a plane where it's hit and miss), and working on a laptop in Y is IMHO an exercise in futility.
