As a dedicated QF man, will I survive 2x DJ flights in 24hrs?

Sounds like the Potato and Leek soup doesn't have many fans.

Honestly, though, who came up with that idea? Potatoes are great roasted or baked or microwaved and served with some tasty cheese or as chips, but all gluggy with leek is no fun.

Potato and leek soup can be good; the potato gives a heavier feeling to the soup and it should be blended fairly well but not until the potato "dissolves" into the liquid. Leek adds a nice edge to it all.

As long as you blend it correctly and serve it hot, the gluggy-ness is not an issue.

Unfortunately, all too often this said soup is probably produced from the packet. QF lounge included when they have the said soup (cf. their rather interesting  choice of carrot and coconut soup). Thankfully most (not all) QF J lounge soups are quite good.

I thought the dumb question was why use baggage check for a short trip, I suspect the answer is the baggage was part of the mercy visit.

I was also going to add (in addition to the previous two questions) If the OP is such a dedicated QF man why does he only have PS on QF and Gold on DJ (or am I missing something...)?

Gold was on VS - I'm guessing via a promo.

(I'm interested to know if the baggage labels actually mean anything on DJ!)

Our OP flies mainly on oneworld and has QP PS (the PS part earned just this year).

It's actually VS Gold that the OP has as opposed to DJ Gold; was part of a wily status offer that was discussed in another thread.

Still, VS != QF. PS does not indicate large levels of flying on QF whereas VS Gold does indicate a bit of flying.

But thanks for pointing it out (stupid overlapping Virgin loyalty programs!)

VS Gold at present means you caught the mistake in time and could well mean you have never flown with them. VS Gold after April next year does mean you have done a lot of flying ;)

Stick with bar snacks and you'll be right :) just be glad you're unlikely to cop a planeload of school kids from Asia connecting like my last qf flight:shock:

I've had that before, my QF21 SYD-NRT back in November last year when SYD closed that evening due to localised thunderstorms & heavy showers at the aerodrome.

Inbound QF22 was diverted to MEL, couldn't make it back to SYD in time to clean, refuel and reload pax and still depart before curfew. Group of 200+ Japanese school children were on the flight, and let's just say I snuck into the premium boarding lane as I got to the gate late from the lounge.

Mind you, had already been upgraded to Op-up to Y+ on that flight, and was op-up'd again to J 20min before departure, so not all bad.
