Hello,

I need to book SYD – LAX – SYD on PE for mid-march. I normally book on Virgin Australia around $3,000 but Air New Zealand has a promotion for aprox $2,200. As a VA Gold, I get access to the Air NZ lounge in SYD and can select preferred seats in PE while flying VA. I read the condition of the Alliance between Air NZ and VA, and I should still get access to the Air NZ lounge in SYD if I fly with Air NZ (correct???). However, I could not find information about the AKL – LAX or LAX – AKL sectors. I am not to worry about having lounge access in AKL, but I definitely need / want the lounge access in LAX after a day of work.

What is TBIT?

If flying Air NZ you get access to the star alliance lounge.

The Star Alliance Lounge at TBIT is great, Was in there on Saturday night. After ordering dinner in the First Class lounge shoebox, then out onto the Terrace.

Totally agree. The 1st (Double secret, Lets me check to see if you can go in lounge) was a let down so after our meal, I headed out to the terrace and enjoyed the J lounge.

What I didn't like about the 1st lounge is it seems dumpy. Lack of high ceilings, rectangle box room, plain walls, just blah.

Have I hit brat status?

Great! I'm looking forward to checking it out in June!

I'm flying VA metal and that seems to use the star alliance lounge too!

I don't know where the NZ gates are but we flew VA and had a massage at Xpresspa before our flight. Something to think about if you have a late departure. Theres always time for a massage :)

Excellent news. The Star Alliance lounge is very nice indeed.

Thank you for the replies and the URL link.

I didn't bother staying after I walked in. I just went out to the terrace where I was literally the only person there for an hour.
What was the food on offer like in the F section?

Otherwise the *A lounge in TBIT in my opinion is pretty decent.

there was a menu, where you ordered from. Probably about a dozen options. Was a nice meal. Also some different offerings of beverages.

I've heard people enter in the F lounge to pick up some nicer champagne, then head straight over to the J terrace to enjoy it.

Now, I can't vouch for this as my first visit to the LAX lounge won't be until next month, but I can report back? ;)

Re: As a VA Gold flying on Air NZ SYD-LAX-SYD, Do I get access to Air NZ lounge in LA

Been there a few times before my VA flights to OZ.

The F&Bin the F area is definitely a step up from that available outside, the food outside especially being rather uninspiring.

It's also generally more private - in the evenings the main area can be a zoo.

Basically I have only used the outside terrace and the F section ... tried to get comfortable a couple of times in the interior business area but I prefer the other two options.
