Asia Miles points extension request because of Covid

Thanks for the update. Did you have to transfer credit card points to meet the 30,000 Asia Miles for the free conversion or did you just call for a renewal?

Did your points change to the new system where they don’t expire?

I will do that for the remaining miles As they expire in April 2022.

I just burned 360,000 miles to go to Europe in J for two Pax in December 2022.

SYD-HND-LHR J - JAL
HEL-HND-SYD J - JAL
Nope, they just renewed it without the renewal fee. Just checked and it went through in the account before it said expiring 31 May 2022.

Thanks @elitebhy

Asia miles have approved the renewal and waived the service fee!

The agent said this exemption is only for Foreign account holders outside of Hong Kong.

I have a fair few CX miles slated to expire in May despite putting in an Amex transfer in October then making a subsequent redemption that should have used the expiring miles first.
I've tried 2 emails and knocked back.
Phoned today (AU number answered almost instantly!) and agent offered to put in request to extend (didn't seem to be connected to whether I was justified or not). She said she would ring back within 48h

No call yet but miles have all been reset without fee 😀

I have miles expiring in Sept 2022, can't get it exttended yet, nott sure if I should do the 30k transfer

Same here, I got a fair amount of miles expiring in 3 months. Contacted them via the chat and got told to transfer 30k in points before 31 March. This was over two weeks ago. However the expiring date for the existing still haven't changed. I contacted them again last week via chat and they say it takes 6 weeks for the expiring date to be adjusted. Furthermore they can't guarantee it applies to everyone. Is there a way to find out? Otherwise I would have to book something fast and that 30k in points would have been a waste.

No, you just need to be patient. It will happen.

Hi all,

Found out my 130k points expired in Jan this year. Live chatted tonight and was told nothing can be done. Devo.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I don't think so. You could try emailing them explaining that it was not possible to book any seats using your points. You will be lucky if they capitulate as it has been a long time. Next time you hire a car or book a hotel, think about allocating the points to your AM account.

Have you got an email that we can contact?

My expiring points (September 22) were renewed for 12 months without question via call centre.
It looks like they are totally renewed. i.e. that I could make them last forever by topping up miles every 18 months.
Won't be waiting around to try though

Aaaaaaaaarggggghhhh. Frustrating trying to book any redemption seats 12 months out. Worst airline website that is clunky, slow and sometimes displays calendar with availability (none) but mostly you are required to quit the page and start again to try an adjacent day. Having a minor meltdown.

Has anyone had any luck actually getting through to a phone operator?
Yep, piece of cake with HK number. Free call on my Aldi phone plan.
Wait for the recorded message to offer English, then very strightforward process

I thought, wrongly apparently, you could find availability on other airline website then claim the seat when speaking to or emailing Cathay. The operator I spoke to told me this was incorrect. Pity as I had located J on Qatar.
I ended up booking 2 Y+ SYD-AMS-SYD late this year as this was best I could manage.
