Have been doing a fair bit of exploring Asia Miles program - I've got to move some Amex points from warehouse (want to re-start 18month waiting period), and thinking given my exposure to Star Alliance already via SQ & United Miles, AM seems a decent program to get most value out of Oneworld.

Availability on CX flights seems MUCH better than trying to book CX via QFF when searching AM website (which is a huge bonus as we are limited to peak (school holiday) periods, and on that basis alone, I seem to think its a great home for some points. Expiry is less of an issue as I know the 3yr rule with AM.

One question I cant seem to answer is - there are a list of "Return Only" partners:

- Finnair
- Iberia
- Japan Airlines
- LAN
- Royal Jordanian
- S7 Airlines

How do these partners interact with the RTW award? Can I book a one-way flight with these airlines as part of a RTW award? If so, that means they are quite dead to us - and Japan Airlines is someone I'm keen to explore as a viable option for this booking as they have great routings to come home from USA with a brief stopover in Japan:

MEL-HKG-ZRH (CX)
ZRH-NYC (AA)
NYC-ORD (AA)
ORD-NRT (JA)
NRT-MEL (JA)

Would appreciate any input from those with more knowledge than I!

Different products (RTW vs ‘simple’ one way or return itineraries)

It’s only S7, Aer Lingus, star alliance and some other non oneworld partners that can’t be used as part of a multi carrier RTW award.

i think you’re fine.
