Assistance MEL JNB

We want to travel MEL JNB around March 31 and return April 12 in J. 2 pax
The QF cost is exorbitant so I am open to suggestions. Status earners are desirable but they go up against Virgin/SAA combined fare.

I generally fly SQ two or three times a year SYD-SIN-JNB/CPT. Fares are often less than $4500 which I think is very good value

I found SQ in J offering specials at $4700 but for my dates, at $5700. I may need to boost my Velocity throughput.

You could fly with VA and SA via PER for $4,334.28 on those dates.
The price for the same flights on VA flight numbers is higher, at least $6055.62 direct with VA.

QF is promoting a fare return MEL JNB for $4300 but when looking up my dates it is $7200. I don't know when the cheap fare is available.
