Hi everyone,

I recently booked a J OW RTW Award ticket. Now I've rarely ever been in J despite having got to WP for a few years by only flying domestic flights (with 3 x J flights). All my international flights have been in Y so very much looking forward to this trip world trip

Booking the RTW ticket I used the knowledge of the forums so thanks very much :D

I'd like to request assistance once more (thanks) from those who have actually experienced J international travel in finding the best seats.

Details (with current seats)
MEL to SYD QF420 767-300/300ER- Seat 4A
SYD to SIN BA016 Boeing 747-400 - Seat 17K
BKK to SIN CX713 Boeing 777-300 - Seat 14A
SIN to FRA QF005 Boeing 747-400 - Seat 16A (exit row)
FRA to MAD IB3507 Airbus Industrie A320-100/200 - Seat 3F
MAD to EZE IB6845 Airbus Industrie A340-600 - Seat 1L
EZE to SCL LA532 Boeing 767-300/300ER - Seat 3A
DFW to BNE QF008 Boeing 747-400 - Seat 16K (exit row)

I know it basically comes down to opinions but I'd like to hear those opinions, especially in relation to the upper/lower deck flights. Thanks in advance.

Ditto......upper deck every time on 747
For BA
62AK
64AK
63BJ

Look like you have best seats for QF......

Short haul are much the same.....I prefer aisle and bulkhead ie 1C or 3C depending on which number it starts....

FWIW, if you can snaffle a rear facing bulkhead seat at the back of the cabin you have a sort of private area.

Thanks serfty. For some reason I can't select my seat on the BA flight (probably due to BA not having issued a booking ref in QF booking unlike the other airlines).

As soon as I get that fixed I'll see what I can grab

What happens when you go to the BA site and put in the QF ref? Never had an issue selecting seats on BA (is it booked as a BA flight number?)
my seats would be (and will be these when I fly them this year ;-) )
BA 747 64A (only when with SWMBO I go for LD)
QF 747 to FRA 1A (just because I still like the boardingpass with 1A on it)
QF 747 from DFW, is it a 3 class or 4 class? Can you select downstairs and what does zone A look like? It is possible to get a 4 class on that route so you could get an old first class seat.

Hi ozmille,

Well what happens 10 minutes after I post that the BA site doesn't let me select a seat? They now let me select seats. I've moved to 64A, first time ever I'll be in a seat facing the other way :o

As for QF 747 to FRA 1A I was very tempted but it seems others were more tempted and the seat has been taken.

QF 747 from DFW looks like it is a 3 class, I think. On the lower deck for example there are 6 seats in row 3, no seats in row 4, 5 seats in row 5 (exit aisle), then 7 seats in row 6 to 8. I can't select Row 1 & 2 which have 4 seats each. If Row 3 is first class seats I'll grab one ASAP.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Really looking forward to long haul business. Any suggestions for how to make the most of it?

Well I had to change my flight back from DFW to BNE luckily still a J award seat on the day I wanted.

Was first charged the 3.5k assistance fee and was about to be charged change fee (x points or $80 I was going for cash) when I was told no change fee for a bus class award change. Don't know that and would never have guess a difference between Y and J award fees.
