ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Any idea if Qantas CU card works for ATO? I've read the whole post back to front aaand can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm fairly certain that I've read of it being used successfully before... But I can't 100% confirm from personal experience unfortunately.

I have ordered discount Woolies vouchers from Club Lifestyle in the past.

Thankfully nothing outstanding at the moment.

I have used it successfully on one occasion for a small amount (<1,000). Not sure how you would go with a significant bill or regular ATO use. JV

A warning we should all be careful in trying to build a bank of points.
Continuously earning and burning is the way to go.

Sage advice there Nizar.
Best idea, as in most things, is to not have all your eggs in one basket. I have two points banks and three airline programs all with points to varying degrees. If one were to go I'd be sad, but would still have a large chunk intact.

Which card to use in October? A cheaper Visa or MasterCard for less points or a bank branded Amex for the full 1.5 points per dollar.
What is everyone thinking?

Well it won't be my QEDRCC because its in a perpetual blocking mode despite many calls to have it un-blocked Arrrrrrghh

While I dont disagree with the idea I dont really think its applicable to equate a $2 company that runs rewards programs with the airlines/companies themselves. I or my wife are members of some of the rewards programs mentioned (Myers, Hoyts, Coles, Woolworths) and those programs are in fact still running. Dont believe everything you read in the press.

Ouch Shintaro10x!
Can your partner get one and harvest the sign on bonus from Woolies?
15% extra Virgin points makes the non ATO Citi Select warehouse stash threatened.Same with the Westpac Black Altitude points.
We are flying Virgin today so I can assess their product with Mrscove.

Everything is relative.

I agree AMEX is too expensive for QFF, but bearable for SQ.
Well given we had people here talking of SQ points being worth up to 4c and this is just under 1c (1.45c for 1.5 points) or nearly half that if you are able to claim back tax am still not sure I agree that Amex is too expensive.

1) The quoted number of 4c per mile is the super-premium price SQ charges when someone needs to top up their account for redemption.

By definition, it is the uppermost value.

2) Everyone knows that for an equivalent itinerary, SQ requires fewer points (i.e. less $$ = lower CC charges) than our beloved QF.

That is what I means by "relative value".

AMEX - I like points:D probably only a matter of time before the bank branded cards drop down to .5/$. I say - grab it while you can.

A dead certainty - you know the finish line is close when the big 4 lead the way.

I refuse to pay fees for my personal card spend unless there is no easy alternative. Business spend is an entirely different ball game.

Just in case you missed it on the thread All cards to Virgin in October 15% bonus....ATO payments due in October ;) early payment anyone?

Virgin Australia: 15% bonus on Velocity frequent flyer points - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Thanks for the heads up - I'm currently maxed out on SQ and have run VA down. Handy with more potential points sitting in Citi than my SQ, QF and VA accounts combined.
I definitely don't want too many points sitting in Citi until their latest rule changes taking effect in November are bedded down.

Citi Select is currently unaffected on the 1.33 points earn on non ATO but who could know when that might change. The Virgin opportunity with the bonus of 15% may attract some redemptions.
