ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I get something like 10 quarterlies from the ATO for our family members and companies. It sure gets you thinking which credit cards to use to get them paid by October 28th. Here I am so excited that our SMSF has gone tax free so one has dropped off my list.
My youngest son may have 2 cards that work on ATO so I will get him to do some smallish tests on his latest ones.
I might try to get him a US credit card seeing he is traveling with us to the US in late November. No harm in trying but he does not have a Social Security number nor any real estate. I think I will try thru US Bank to get him a credit history.

The dreaded Qudos email just arrived. From 1 December, no ATO, only 0.5 points per dollar over $2,500 per month, 200,000 pa points cap and increase in annual fee to $249 pa. Said face.

Argh, with those changes, it doesn't look like Qudos is worthwhile anymore. Guess my payments in Oct and Nov are going to be the last before I cut up that card and try to figure out who to go to next.

No kudos for qudos.

Wonder if they wil offer a prorata refund for the balance of remaining term?

Note - it's a "$200,000" cap - so points earning only on $200,000 - max of 115,000 points per year.

No, it says 200,000 points per annum cap - not $200,000. So, you could still spend $370,000 pa to earn your 200K points. That equates to 0.54 points per dollar - which does not sound like a good deal for the increase annual fee as well.

That is not what this states: (www.qudosbank.com.au/Products/CreditCards/VisaPlatinum)
8. From 1 December 2016 the following changes will apply: ATO Payments will be Ineligible Transactions; Qudos can nominate other payments as Ineligible Transactions from time to time; a cap of $200,000 per annum will apply; you will earn 1 Qantas Point per $1AUD spent on Eligible Transactions for the first $2,500 per month and then 0.5 Qantas Points per $1AUD thereafter; and the annual fee will increase to $249 per annum.
Yes, it is poorly written.

Thanks for the correction. I went off the original statement from Gold Member and read that to mean a 200K points cap. A $200K dollar cap is even worse. :( :(

As Scr77 says it is zero on ATO spend, I find it amazing you guys are worried about the cap on anything else. You must be churning a lot of bills through personal credit cards :)

Lately, I have started travelling a lot again and can easily spend around $20K a month on flights and hotels. I liked Qudos because of the 1:1 and the extra points for QF spend. I would have still kept the card for just QF spend; but the $259 annual fee and $2.5K per month limit just makes it not worth it.

Anyway, need to find an alternative perfect card that gives us everything we want - ATO spend, no caps, no fees, bonus for certain spend

I'd be happy to forego my ATO spend if I could still get 1 to 1 on everything else. The Amplify Platinum Signature looks like a good option and has a promo at the moment. But, that could be halved by the time i open the envelope!

Is the St George card ATO friendly?...and have they had their points program revalued yet?

kpc we are waiting for my sons card to turn up. Will do a tester when the card arrives next week.

I think my son has linked St George new card to Kris Flyer. Hopefully the snail mail is fast.
It was sad news about Qudos and December 1st.
Mrscove has done really great things with her World card by handing me the partner card to use.
Now she worries about using her points.

I have an coughnal of credit cards, most of which are useless from rewards point of view. Good time as any to review with pair of scissors.
