ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

From memory Beem it only works with MC & Visa so Amex is unfortunately not an option. Even then, not with all bank issued cards - for instance, I couldn’t register my Macquarie Visa but could use my Westpac MC. Official reason I was given was they have some sort of agreement whereas Macquarie does not.

I think with Post Billpay would only work if it’s an accepted payment method and if PayPal is an option. I’m sorry don’t know off hand if this billet can be paid by PayPal otherwise you might be in luck though the experience is that Amex is paying reduced points for government charges even if paid by PayPal so Sniip might be the only viable way to do it only with a fee.

Please report back after you give it a go 😉
update on deft via beem it:
registered and payment seemed to have worked despite giving a message at first to the effect of "debit card required for this payment"
will update in a few days once transaction goes through

edit: just realised it might have to wait until statement is generated to check if full points were awarded and no cash advance fees charged 🧐

Wow didn't realise beem it accepted cerdit cards now. If deft is an option, looks like my rent arrangements are changing!

Tested our new Platinum Corporate Amex and the fee and the payment both earned a point a dollar. After a month we are effectively over half a million membership rewards after a few weeks once everything posts. Won’t bother the ATO with this card.

yep, so sounds like ANZ is looking at the end merchant, not just that its beem.
My friend will also try beem/ATO with ANZ and see what he gets
Whenever I’ve used Beem. It’s always just shown ‘beem.com.au’ (reconciling these payments will be fun) on my credit card statements. How does the CC issuer know who you’ve paid?

I’ve got points so far but haven’t tried with an ANZ card. Thanks for the intel re lack of points on ANZ card.

MCC passthrough is definitely possible so likely that's what they are doing. Some banks can cope with it correctly to our detriment, and some not.
