ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Thanks for the reply.
Yes you were right. The call was from the Amex fraud dept. It's all clear.
Just got Citi Select approved yesterday. Now the fee will be even lower.
Thanks for the tips on applying the Citi Select. Wish I have discovered this community earlier.

Citi Select to Kris Flyer is my favourite where you can get points at 0.36 cents each and then maybe even claim up to 47.5% credit from your tax partner if it is a BAS payment.

I'm pretty sure I got a notification about the reduction for the corporate green charge card as well.

Hi,

Beside Citi Select, what is the best Visa card for Kris Flyer points? I have NAB platinum but is cap at 4K per month.
Missing out on the points as usually putting a lot more through.
Thanks in advance!

AFY if you find a Visa for Kris Flyer points that has a good earning rate per dollar that is uncapped let us know.
Citi Select has high barriers to getting to YES and is $700 annually.
westpac Platinum Kris Flyer Visa only earns half a point uncapped so I don't have it in my credit card wallets.

I'm happy with my Citibusiness Gold and my recent dealings with Citi have been characterised by a reasonable level of competence on their part (e.g. painless creation of new Citi Plus account) so I may have to think about Citi Select again now that Amex's own cards are shortly to become useless for paying tax.

Hi Cove,
Talked to NAB yesterday, I can get 0.66 point per dollar uncapped on Platinum for a annual fee of $290.
I am on Gold for free as part of the package. But the points is capped at around 4K per month.
Decided to pay the annual fee to upgrade to Platinem for the uncapped points. It's definitely worthy it.

Oh, you gave me a scare then. I've got the NAB Q Business MC - had to quickly check T&C's for points capping - phew - no points capping

Hi Stephen65,
Do you know which types of Amex that won't earn points anymore?
And when will this happen?
Does CitiGold earns you 1 point a dollar?
Thanks

Not sure about NAB Business MC.
But for NAB Gold VISA:
First 3K - 2 points= 3 dollars
3-10K , 1 point = 2 dollars
Over 10K - no point
NAB Platinum VISA:
2 points every 3 dollar uncapped

Having said that though, why not simply plonk government merchants into the same category as gambling? ie; it gets treated as a cash advance? Card acceptance is still maintained but without the pesky rewards payouts.

Wash your mouth out with Jet* soap. Don't you know we all want our FF points for those premium J & F Tix - actually we deserve it.
So to you, I say, back to economy on your next long haul flight and just think about what could have been done with all those lovely BAS CC FF points ... mmm points

haha. you know, I'm so paranoid these days I almost didn't post that in case Amex/ATO flunkies are lurking and get a good idea :) Along with everyone else in this thread, I am fully utilising what is about the only joy in paying tax and long may it continue.

You could always prepay your tax, if you roughly knew how much you owe, then top it up when you lodge or ask for a refund of the credit balance in your ATO account.

Do you have to pre-pay in the year the tax liability occurs? ie before the end of June?
