Still the same situation in BKK. Booked a classic award and had to front up to the office to show my CC. So much for it being removed as of February 2014 . . . .

Previously I've been able to pay the Jakarta office with an AMEX card without needing it to be sighted (but they said only with AMEX, not Visa or Mastercard). Probably worth calling to confirm if that's still possible.

I have an Australian and a UK Amex so should be able to find a card they like, especially if I ring Amex in advance. So ring Jakarta office, check it is okay, then book online and ring back to get it ticketed? Or do I do the whole booking over the phone with the Jakarta office?

was there talk to remove the requirements in feb?

That's what the girls told me on several occasions over the past 12 months. Supposedly, you'd be able to book online and show your CC upon checkin, like CX. Naturally, nothing has come of it and still no comment from Red Roo or QF. One could die waiting at this rate. ;)

Looking to book a one way classic award from Jakarta to Melbourne, but the need to have your credit card sighted in Jakarta is still in place, an impossibility from Australia!
Have tried ringing QFF in Australia and they can ticket it but it will cost 30k points + 238AUD, whereas online it is 30k + 150USD (160AUD). I assume the difference is the phone booking fees. If I just book it online is there any workaround, like faxing a copy of my credit card, or ringing up QFF in Australia and getting the to verify the card without slapping a phone booking fee on top?

Have you booked it already? When I strike this issue, I book online at the good price then call them, explain and ask them to ticket it in AUD. They don't charge a phone booking fee as you've already booked it.

Try the charm offensive.

I booked online then called the Jakarta office once they emailed through the booking. It's probably worth calling first to ensure it's still the case though.
