AUS-LHR J awards Sept 2018 - none for SG?

So I'm in the process of stalking J awards from AKL - LHR for late september 2018 at present and I've started checking earlier to see availability as a SG.

Turns out even at the 353 day mark, there is nothing available from MEL-LHR and SYD-LHR (I excluded AKL from the mix to just look at the long haul availability)

Historically at 353 you could get J seats as a SG but seems it's now near impossible. Is J on QF1/9 now for WP only at 353 out? Alternatively I guess I've missed it by an hour or so when I checked earlier but it's looking rather barren all of september 2018

Late September is school holidays, might that be the reason?

As a WP the only J seat I can see MEL-LHR is MEL-SYD-PER-LHR on September 4 and the only leg actually in J is MEL-SYD. So its not status, just lack of availability.

For a popular route, you needed to be on the web at midnight on the day they became available to nab J classic award seats. They have never lasted more than a few minutes.

Agree with this. Last night, I was looking at several time periods next year for J to LHR and yes, seats via Perth on QF (gonna fill those planes and PROVE the success of the route ) and on MH via KL and plenty of long haul segments in Economy.

Just ran some searches ex variety of cities. 4 in fact.

Late sept isn't even registering yet as 353 days out is 14/15 Sept......

That said there appears to be some, J on Other airlines outside Melb or Syd

Why not book on CX AKL-HKG-LHR(LGW)? There is some J availability showing on 17/18/19 September 2018...

Better J seats, less stops, quicker flight time, better airline, avoid QF... This would be my number one choice AKL-LHR even if seats were available on other flights.

There is good availability shown by a multi-city search AKL-HKG/HKG-LHR for J and also some showing via DXB on EK.

so having spent the last 2 days exactly waiting till 10am eastern, I'm getting more convinced that they are not release W or J awards for SG possibly. Literally i'm sitting at the computer hitting search as soon as it hits 10:00 353 out and all that loads are Y class awards.

anyone want to shed some light on it?

I will end up going CX likely but was trying to spend 128k vs 139k points that's all!

Are you searching AKL-LHR or are you trying multi-city searches?

well at least you'd save $1000 going CX given the "extras" charged by QF

I'm only NB. It have been monitoring SYD to Europe J award seats for months. QF has had regular availability showing up for me at 310 days out but midweek only, nothing at weekends. Absolutely nothing before the 310 day mark. Alternatively CX and AY have regular award J seats showing up at around 360 days . I decided to ditch QF and opted for Syd to HGK with CX and on to HEL with AY. There were also plenty of AY options heading to London. Much happier with fees and looking forward to comparing CX and AY to QF J. Good luck with your search . P.s. These are for flights in mid August and mid September.

Is there much taxes in terms of flying MEL-DXB-LGW with EK J A380? Good use of points or better use Eco MEL-HKG QF A330 then J HKG-LGW with CX A350 (These are the options coming up in some searches I've been doing. Obviously J all the way would be nice but yeah. Thanks!
