Aus to US - Paper work confirmation

Hi all...

I'm on a flight from AUS to the US on Saturday. This is more stressful than I'd like it to be. Travel used to be fun.

I'm confirming if I have done all I need to.

I have my eTicket.
I have my Australian passport
I have my International Vaccination Certificate (I'm not boosted - just the 1st and 2nd shots)
I have my ESTA (The visa thing) linked to my Aus passport
I have a UK passport I will carry as well

On Friday, I plan to go to Chemist Warehouse, to get my covid test. That is hopefully the last go/no-go call. If it's positive, that would be a nightmare. I'm taking the spit RAT test today, and Wednesday. So far, negative. But with Kids returning to school - I'm quite scared. Also, I had Covid 3 weeks back. I see that as a good thing. Surely you can't get it twice in a month!??

Anyway, Friday, I will get a certificate from Chemist Warehouse saying I'm negative.

That's it then, right?
No other strange things/hoops I need to tumble through to allow me onto the plane and into the US?

This used to be an exciting week. The week before going. Now, it's just stress and confusion.

I just came here to ask a similar question.
We are looking at going to the USA in November (I sure hope some of these requirements are gone by then)
And I noticed that you have to have a test no older than 1 day before travel.
We will be flying out of Sydney but don't live there. Do we just go to any old chemist to do a RAT test? They then give us a certificate or something?
I have no idea how this works?

Also I think because you had covid within 90 days of travel you just need to show them proof of that, in case you're still carrying antibodies or something. I read it on the USA CDC webpage.

I did have covid 3 weeks back. But not sure how to prove it. That’s a bit of a concern. I’m doing home RAT tests and they are now all negative.

You are supposed to register it online that way you can get a print out saying when you had it.
Makes it so much easier as you’re usually exempt then from testing for 90 days.

You then go to the doctor and get a recovery certificate.
If you’re negative at home I’m sure it will be ok, I believe it’s just in case you still have antibodies that give off a positive result even after you’re no longer infectious.

Ok. Registered. Can only go 14 days back which is close enough. Got a letter basically saying “Get well soon”.

I’ve gone negative on my RAT test. So I’ll go visit my doctor. Hell know what to provide I hope. But regardless. It comes down to the test the day before we depart right? Tests I do now show no sign of a T line. Only the very staring C line.

Sorry. Covid testing slightly off topic. But helps me know what paper work to obtain. Would this letter help if there were traces of covid on the offical test the day before the flight?

You need your positive test result, and a letter from your doctor.
Then you dont need another test.

• If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

That would be amazing. I have my positive and negative tests right here. (The little plastic things). I hope my doctor accepts these and can provide a letter. That would be the biggest relief as my kids return to school this week - and I’m worried the schools might bring it home again. So that test the day before departure is keeping me awake at night. Thanks for the guidance there.

I think you'd need a PCR positive, or a supervised RAT positive.....not just the above RAT that could be anyone's....

I have all the things at the top of this thread... except the NEGATIVE COVID TEST.

I presume now in July 2022 that this is NOT part of the package one needs for travel to USA from AUST?

I did get asked by QF to fill in the [United States Passenger Attestation] but that's only open to complete 72 hours before flight time.

What information is required to complete this "form" when the time comes?
QF site has no details.
Searches point me to a PDF from the CDC that says one of the things to declare is a NEGATIVE COVID TEST.

Anyone gone through this in the last month or so since the testing requirement has been dropped by USA?

Yes, the covid test was removed a few months ago.

The attestation just makes you declare you meet the requirements. It used to include the covid test but that would be removed from it now. It's really just your vax certificate you'll need.

I entered USA on 20 July and no covid test result was required from me.

At US Immigration at HNL I wasn’t required to show any docs other than my passport. At QF checkin I had to show my international vax certificate.

My partner entered the USA two days ago.
Required the US Attestation online form attached to the QF booking and the Int. Vac's Cert.
Creeping closer to pre-covid travel norms.

Take a printed copy of your ESTA to show at check-in when asked.

Easier to print the ESTA and have it with you than to be that person rifling through emails and the ESTA website trying to find it on your phone at the check-in counter - yes I've seen that!

As others have said, you'll also have to show your Int'l vaccination certificate at check-in, CBP in the US don't care about seeing any of that stuff as the airline should have checked it all before they let you board the flight.

Always keep printed copies of travel documents.

I went to Seattle on 9th July. I flew SQ and they don't have an online version of the US attestation form like QF...so I had printed and signed a paper version. It was never asked for at any time...not at check in and not when entering the US.
