Aussie Broadband is a fantastic provider. I selected them after hearing good things about them and after having problems with a slightly cheaper provider. I have been really happy with them for the ~36 months that I've been with them. I agree with you, the moment nbnco change their wholesale pricing and ABB are more competitively priced, I will move straight back to them. (but for now, I can't justify the additional cost of ABB for the once or twice a year I need to contact support)

Can't see NBN changing pricing . As it is they are barely making a return and unless a future government (certainly not this one) writes it down or injects cash (both of which have budget impact) they can't move.

And even then the market will move down. Aussie's main selling point is better service, and that equals higher costs.

Can't see NBN changing pricing

The five major RSPs (inc Aussie Broadband) have been pushing for a switch from nbn's current variable CVC charging structure to a flat wholesale price per connection. nbn has responded with a flat-price proposal which, while not ideal as it includes yearly price rises, is a sign that they are willing to change things.

Minor change yes. But not going to make much of a difference to retail prices, just moving from Column A to B.

And as more lower usage NBN users shift off NBN to 5G, the high fixed cost of the NBN is going to have to be born by less users.

To some extent I'm surprised that ABB supported the proposal. In the early NBN days the cheap operators had substantial peak congestion so it was more clear the difference that a better operator made. With flat prices their is far less differentiation in the market which makes maintaining price premiums more difficult.

Branding and service can make a difference in mature markets. I would expect substantial consolidation of smaller players, especially as venture capital gets involved.
