Australia Post and my 'lost' item.

From reports, before Christmas some AP contractors were routinely leaving cards for parcels when the people were home (not attempting to deliver so probably not even knocking on the door before running away :))

Same here & 99.9% of the time the local PO is great. They make the effort to know your christian name to enter on the scanner. They reflect small town service despite the organisation they work for.

The one time the post office couldnt find a parcel that Id been carded for, was because they had filed it under the senders surname and not my own....

I love our local post office. It changed hands just over a year ago and the previous owner taught the new owner to look after me well, including not needing to sight ID to collect parcels. Plus if I drop in to post stuff, he always lets me know if there is something there for me to collect.

I love my local PO :)
I get the same service there too. I do a lot of shopping online and sell the odd thing that's surplus to requirements and they are terrific with me.

I love my local PO... but when you move the PO boxes 5k down the road I lose the love

And then some people complained about the Posties Picnic Day, straight after new year.

What I lose the love for is when an item cant be delivered to my PO Box in suburb B (2klms north) but they take my parcel to some side street newsagent for pickup in suburb A (2klms south), that I never drive to.

I don't know what it is with Australia Post.

I forgot my computer glasses in Sydney. Brother sent Monday afternoon and arrived at Pinkenba at 8:38am yesterday morning. Express Post tracking has the item as delivered. Item was loaded on truck yesterday morning.

I work in a shopping centre building. I understand it can be difficult but please make an effort. My eyes are sore and no sign of glasses.

What is the point of Express Post?

Last month, I sent a parcel to my niece via Aussie Post that cost $34 and took 5 business days to deliver, 7 days in total.

Last week, I sent a parcel to my niece via TNT that cost approx $25 (cant remember exactly but less than Aussie Post) and it took 18 hours to deliver. Yes, less than 24hrs and it was in her hands.

I wont be sending her any more care packages via Aussie Post.

Australia Post are cough.

Work in an office and last week we worked late every night. At approx 3pm one afternoon we received a 'try to deliver your package but you weren't there' card with our normal letters. Had to collect the small package at the post office that afternoon.

At the post office I asked about this. They told me that the package tracking said 'arrived ADL airport' and 'delivered to xx_ post office'. She couldn't tell me more and I can understand that she didn't bag her employer.

Come on Australia Post, you are faking your service! You deserve to go bankrupt.

You know Auspost must be bad when TNT is better.

Postal services have certainly gone backwards.

Dear old dad tells that in London during WW2 there were three postal deliveries per day, you could post a letter in the morning and it would be delivered across London and arrive in the evening of the same day and during the war.

I have twice now had small packets that required a signature go directly to my nearest post office with no card being left, nor any reminder card a week later, as is supposed to happen. In one case a packet with French train tickets & accommodation vouchers was returned to the sender in the UK because, unbeknownst to me, it was sitting at the post office uncollected for more than two weeks.

IIRC Couriers Please are not bad for city wide stuff. I think their was one that wasn't bad for suburb to suburb that charged per km or something like that.

PITA when when you work at some places and you use about a dozen odd couriers depending on the product and destination.

I've never had a problem with Australia post itself.

Had a bloke at work complaining about their express post but then when it asked did he use the red or yellow post box it became clear where the problem was.

Napoleon got 3 deliveries a day from Paris when he was at Waterloo.
