Australia v India Test Series: General Discussion

Well done the Vics.
Not sure what the farce is. The Vics have always lost their grounds when the AFL season starts and test players often miss Shield games

I think that the Sheffield Shield can't be played on their home ground due to the AFL is the main reason.
I was more referring to the fact that what should be the highlight of the domestic season is played while our test players are absent. I am guessing the Big Bash downtime has played a role. I was a bit surprised to read that the finals were introduced 1982/83-didn't think it was that long ago and I feel it has led to a lot of games where the top ranked side looks to grind things out.
Maybe because I am in NSW but there seemed to be absolute minimum promotion of the game

Agree with that - the most promotion throughout the whole Shield season was on the last round when all teams played, and most were in with a chance of playing in the final. Big Bash, whilst extremely popular, has sucked the blood out of the Shield games, it is a shame to see some of the best cricketers in the world playing in massive stadiums with just about only family and friiends in attendance.

The Sheffield Shield could wind up a month earlier but for the BBL taking up six weeks mid season.

Edit: and you could listen to the final on ABC digital radio. Of course it was on at the same time as the 4th Test from India so probably no one listened. One was on Grandstand and the other on Extra.

The end of the Cricket year (for rankings) is today. So plenty of tests jammed into March. Another thing that killed state Cricket, is the lack of free to aïr TV. Also jamming all the state one dayers into a small period at North Sydney is cough. Hardly no coverage of the shield in Victoria.

No tests for Australia till November?

Weren't they going to reschedule the Bangladesh series that was cancelled?

Meanwhile I'm getting emails from Cricket Australia telling me that tickets for the Ashes will be available soon! Will they sell off half of them to the Poms as usual? I trust they won't continue the price gouge they've been doing for years. Last season they actually dropped ticket prices at the SCG to something more reasonable. Wouldn't surprise me if they want $100 for a ticket in the concourse of the Brewongle stand for the Ashes Test. To go with $8 lite beers. Yecch!
