Australian Airlines and their involvement in Education activities?

I wonder if we will ever see the day where airlines in Australia start once again encouraging young people to learn more about aviation, while there are the much criticised cadet pilot programs about (something not unique to Australia or its airlines but many trainees overlook the handcuffs and wages being paid while they have those on), there seems to be little on offer for those in school to get their interest in Aviation going, such as the Cathay Pacific program that seems to be very well organised:

I remember QF and AN both used to encourage school groups, but as discussed in a recent thread, there seems to be no educational inspiration programs being run by the airlines, which can only hurt them moving forward as people look elsewhere for a career? Does anyone know of such facilities, as a parent I hope to one day have my children look at aviation as a career!

Can't speak for the current situation but when I was at uni, Qantas was one of the sponsors of the highest tier of full-tuition scholarships. Not aviation-related per se and they (and the other sponsors) had no proactive involvement other than stumping up the money and the name, but something quite worthwhile nevertheless.

There is a course called Aviation Studies available to grade 11 and 12 students in QLD schools. I know we used to get many groups tour through the ATC and fire station facilities at various airports on their formal airport visit. The visit included a short flight in a light aircraft, terminal and ground facilities tours, etc. It looked quite similar to the Cathay Pacific program. I do agree though it would be great to see the airlines take a lead role in promoting the industry for the employees of tomorrow.
