I respectfully disagree, Australia will win this test and win the series.

The Indian batsmen (Kholi aside) are not that crash hot in foreign conditions against a good bowling attack, which our Aussies certainly are. And the Indian bowlers will not have the firepower on our hard wickets. As frail as our batting line-up may be, there's still players in there which actually have very good records in Australian conditions - Khawaja & SMarsh (shock horror I know)
One of us will be right. Or both wrong.

Lunch day one 4/56

Three cheap wickets batting at wide balls = slips catching practice and one ripper of a catch by Khawaja

Edited to add the picture of the ball analysis of the wickets

Can also recommend a book “Return of a King” by William Dalrymple about The idiocy of the Battle for Afghanistan 1839-42, and the dumb decision to invade and then seek revenge when those you invaded fought back.... seems a fitting complement to the cricket without win at all costs..which I am reading while spectating .LOL

Good to see Khawaja getting into the action. You can pick your friends but are stuck with your relatives.

We really need India to bat first if the match is going to last more than a couple of days.
Send India in to bat or India winning the toss and choosing to bat? Either one is a poor choice for India. You can't score runs from the dressing room.

We have a good bowling attack. If our batting holds up we'll win the series.

There is a biblical saying: One session doth not maketh a Test series.

Apparently, at 23K+ it is the second largest crowd at the Adelaide Oval for a Test against India. Given the weather that is not too bad.

Well the members have a decent turn-out but the public are decimated

In the top of the stand is around 9000 seats barely 500 filled and
Oh the corporate boxes are full......
8/210. Great bowling effort. 7 overs left tonight

And see this for good measure

The weather in Adelaide today is revolting and 38 again tomorrow.

Yeah. Today I was blow vacuuming the leaves from the storms last week and then realised I needed to stop ASAP. It’s summer. It’s Adelaide.

Is 250 a par first innings score at Adelaide Oval? I was thinking much less at 6 down.

no way - need a lot more than that in Adelaide
On a day like yesterday, definitely. Saturday might prove trickier with the weather. If it gets humid today then that too might be interesting. Too hot to sleep last night.

Even on a slow pitch? Is the pitch likely to assist batting or bowling as the match goes on?
Depends on the weather. A bit of humidity and swing comes into play. Dry and it’s spin. Not so hot today either. Currently.

Nice of Shaun Marsh to keep things entertaining again.

Shaun Marsh's career against Ashwin: Five dismissals at an average of 1.60
SE Marsh b Ashwin 2 (19b 0x4 0x6) SR: 10.52

Well, it’s 3/59 just after Lunch. First session I Mainly missed and barely 55 runs. Yawns....
India were 4/56?

Thought these charts might be of interest which reflects our bowling while fast looks pretty ordinary. What 12% attack on the stumps - really?

Yet it worked wonders because the Indian batsmen couldn't resist themselves outside off, Australia had a plan and India played right into it.
