Australian Cricket Season 2024-2025

It is pretty early days yet but so far it seems that both sides have some excellent bowlers but not many, if any, in form batsmen. Currently India 150 and Australia 1/19 with Labuschagne struggling to get anything other than an edge on the ball.

Sorry now 2/19.

Oops 3/19

Never judge a wicket .......

Interesting day for sure. There wasn't any talk of the pitch being a mof_ in the pre-game. Seems like great bowling and nervous batting.

Entertaining match so far.

Quite appalling IMHO that CA are whinging about cost if using Hot Spot for this test.

Many countries have ceased using hot spot due to errors and cost. The ICC doesn’t use it any of their tournaments and don’t have it as a test requirement

The cricket stadium and surrounds looked wonderful on the drone scans on TV. Shame about the cricket but certainly very entertaining.

Never judge a team until both sides have had a go.
31,302 showed up!

And yeah the bowlers were stellar

Travis Head was looking great and knocked over with a pearler !

It really is a fantastic venue for spectators. Everything about it just works. Super comfortable too. Even the food and drinks aren't a total rip-off. $12.50 for a schooner is not more than you'd pay in the pub. Even wine prices are reasonable

It's not a day at the cricket without some hot chips according to MrsDaver6

But I preferred this view

View out the back of it wasn't bad either with the iconic WACA light towers in view

Bring on day two!

Husband paid $14 for a schooner just last night of bog standard beer. Adelaide oval is way more expensive. It's all that iron ore you got over there . 😂

After all these years of batters getting the advantage with their mega bats, maybe it's the bowlers turn and who have no technology to give them the same edge. Yeah. About time. Batters have had it too easy.

Something needs to be done about the garbage over rates. Well short yesterday, even with the extra half hour which is now a normal part of the days play. Is starting early to make them up only for weather-related losses?

Aren't they putting two layers of lacquer on the ball now with more prominent seam?

Paid for 90 overs, saw 63. On the other hand, did see 17 wickets. So many wickets certainly slows the over rate. They also gained 10 minutes by delaying the tea break till the change of innings too.

Suspect there will be some penalties handed out at the end of the test. Having said that, there is no way this is going for five days either so does it matter then if the over rate is slow?

I've only googled but can't find anything about that other than the usual pink white red manufacture.

Heard them discussing it on ABC cricket during the first session today. Essentially keeping the ball "newer" for longer.
