Australian Purchased GPS Navigator for the USA

Most uber drivers I have used in the states have either iPhone or iPad mini running google maps. I think that is a pretty good data point.
But the Iphone costs twice to three times as much as a navigator!
The taxi driver I used in New York just used a standard navigator - I wish I'd asked him what type it was.
Cheers,
Renato

Good grief , Tom Tom is useless sometimes I sympathise as I have been thru what you have been thru.

My solution was either phone google maps or Garmin

Yes, I'm here astounded with TomTom - free world maps with lifetime updates - and the unit won't talk to me!

My Lenovo smart phone I don't trust - too slow and unreliable for the navigating activity.

Renato

Update 2.
The Factory Reset worked and the unit is now giving directions. Unfortunately, it doesn't give the more comprehensive multiple lane information that my Aussie Garmin does, and what it does give isn't as early as the Garmin, which caused a couple of instances of errors today when driving on California's spaghetti like freeways. But it got me to where I was going, so I am happy enough now. Though I still haven't been able to activate TomTom services that uses the unit's Sim card.
Regards,
Renato
