The other states (rightly so in my opinion) refused the prioritisation of NSW for Pfizer.

Well, except that he's already prioritised them by stating last week that the additional doses we are getting this week on will all go to NSW. And I suspect this will continue for some time now.

Despite all the commentary, many seemed to have missed the simple truth of what the NSW Premier and CHO said. Because younger cohorts move around the most, the priorities around vaccination needed to prevent the spread of more infectious strains needs to change. The current spread is in the view of these leaders due to movement of younger cohorts.

Given the stated NSW priorities to help suppress the spread of the virus by focusing on that cohort, they could at the NSW Hubs (which gets most of the Pfizer supply in NSW) :

• Only give Pfizer to the under 40's apart from high risk people
• Restrict Pfizer to their "critical" workers list (ie not anyone who can work from home)
• Redirect all Pfizer in NSW to those living in the lockdown suburbs (as per Dr Chants comments)
• Cancel all booked Pfizer first doses to those not in those categories, and make available to the above
• And everyone else be encouraged to get vaccinated now with AZ of which there is great abundance of

And not add 300,000 construction workers to the "critical" workers list on 31st July.

I hope MPs from locked down areas are not allowed into Canberra for the upcoming parliamentary session. They should set an example for the general public by working from home and zooming in (or whatever technology they use).

Other than possibly getting locked out by other States, are the people in NSW generally actually worried by the spread? Yes I get there are people in ICUs and hospitals both young and old, but that’s still a rather small percentage and most I imagine would have underlying issues whether it’s known or unknown to the infected. Ok I admit I don’t have as much compassion as other people. Sometimes I really don’t know what to think. While I have no religious beliefs, I subscribe to the belief that people are destined to die, whether it’s now or later.

I think I see death as, if it happens, it happens. Only thing I’d want is a clean death - no pain or suffering. So then euthanasia comes into the picture. Nope no kids.

There is concern about the spread in terms of impact on schooling, jobs more than anything from what I have heard. But being in lockdown conversation is very limited. Walking past people, the overheard snatches are mostly about vaccination status.

We haven't had a serious conversation in Australia about euthanasia. Otherwise, comments on this forum about aged and comorbid people exceeding their "life expectancy" and their continued value to society and their expediency in current circumstances, may be more pertinent.

Especially here in the inner city, people are frustrated that they’re locked up for such tiny numbers, and more and more angry about border closures. Does seem to be a real push to get vaccinated though. About a year ago I’d say maybe 50% of people were concerned about the virus. Seems to have dropped a lot now, especially given the minuscule mortality rate.

The lack of any clear plan from the government is the biggest frustration. We are in a holding pattern while most things are closed. A small minority ignore restrictions but there’s minor breaches everywhere.

A local cafe on Crown St in Surry Hills had multiple customers and staff with masks not covering their faces because as usual Covid is transmitted from your neck. The police were standing outside this business waiting for their coffee… I actually said “good compliance right there” and they just shrugged their shoulders. If the police won’t do anything I’m starting to question why I should follow the rules all the time.

Sentiment in my social network is we are doing what is necessary to get back to normality as quick as possible. There is frustration about the continued spread between households, seemingly in contravention of orders when we are respecting the orders - despite the toll it is having on us personally.

No one is expressing concern about risk of infection personally.

General feeling is supportive of Govt response and the extent of the lockdown. All are tired of the political sniping and so called expert epidems. Most are not actively watching media as the constant news cycle is over saturation and overblown.

In all honesty, I’ve not heard a single person during this current “outbreak” raise a concern with the virus. Even my one super Coronacrazy friend (who was moving chairs at cafes, wiping down tables and putting the face visor on this time last year) has said that all the vulnerable have had the chance to be vaccinated, time to move on.

Only one person of my social circle is worried about catching COVID and he is immuno-compromised. I still don’t know anyone personally who has had it in Australia although several members of my family in the UK have and two elderly relatives died. Here we are all vaccinated and not expecting to catch it. We take the normal precautions (mask wearing, etc.) and follow the rules. We live in a part of Sydney that has hardly any cases.

When COVID comes up in conversation the main topics are:

Current Sydney lockdown and when is it going to finish
Incompetence of Federal Govt, especially Morrison and Colbeck - many of my circle have relatives in aged care.
Inability to travel overseas
State border closures - whatever happened to Australia?
i want my old life back

Last year the main discussion focus was being thankful we are in Australia but that has completely changed and many now express the view that they wish they were in Europe or the US. Generally though we talk less and less about the pandemic and more about family, sports, work, etc.
